Module 1
Assignment:
What is Needs Analysis or NA?
Needs analysis (NA), according to Lepetit and Cichocki (2002), is an effective approach
for clarifying and validating actual needs. It also allows educators and practitioners to modify
curriculum creation by basing language course material on the communication requirements,
demands, and interests of the learners.
Module 2
Power-Up Activity
Grounding yourself from the salient points or concepts of Needs Analysis, as a future English
teacher of grade 7 students in one of the remotest schools in Bayawan City Division, how would
you go about teaching a specific lesson in grammar?
Answer: To properly execute the teaching of grammar in one of the most distant locations of
Bayawan City Divison, instructors should have a healthy connection that rewards learners for
greater understanding and appreciation of the lessons acquired. Listening to and accepting
inquiries is also essential. Since grammar is the system that helps the learner gain knowledge or
experience, I have a significant role to play in the development and implementation of teaching
grammar. This is because the teacher must thoroughly understand his or her students in order to
come up with a variety of learning strategies that will engage them and meet their needs.
Furthermore, I will present writings that emphasize significant grammatical principles and help
students in comprehending certain grammar lessons; it is also crucial to interact and connect.

Closing Activity
Discuss the importance of Needs Analysis in syllabus design. (Maximum of 5 sentences)
Answer: The needs analysis tool is used to guarantee that the course material provides vital and
valuable knowledge. Needs analysis is the most effective way for developing a scalable and
efficient language curriculum. It is also a foundation for developing the syllabus, which adds to
the encouragement and progression of the learners' acquisition of the specific lesson, as well as
raising their inspiration and paving the way for teachers to adopt a straightforward course of
teaching. A needs assessment focuses on the goals and scope of a course. Most of these
conditions must be completed in order to establish an adequate style of teaching and present our
students with the chance to learn more.
Enrichment Activity
If you were asked to design a syllabus for ESL course, what are some of the first things you
would do to ensure that such design is relevant to the needs of your students?
Answer: If I were assigned to develop a syllabus for an ESL course, the first thing I would do is
decide what materials will be appropriate in the classroom and what learning experiences will

allow students to achieve those results. After that, I would figure out how to make these activities
interesting and motivating for the students. The second thing I need to do is make sure the goals
and objectives are derived from the findings of the needs analysis that was done in order to
establish teaching goals. This will help you to be aware of the direction your learning is going so
that you can be guided to classroom lessons. Finally, in order to be effective, it must cater to the
most vital teachings ESL syllabus required by the students, as well as the most significant
lessons that students must grasp in order to master the topic.
Module 3
Power-Up Activity
What do you think is the role of the classroom teacher in syllabus design?
Answer: Teachers are usually regarded as very important stakeholders in educational process
because they understand how students can acquire skills and knowledge. With that, I believe
teachers share a significant and a decisive role in syllabus design. Such a researcher as Chris
Kennedy advocates the teacher-driven approach to the design of curriculum and syllabus because
they can find the practical application for theoretical knowledge about learning (Kennedy 169).
Only in this way, one can bring improvements in the educational practices used by schools or
colleges (Kennedy 169). This strategy enables teachers to bridge educational theories and
practice.
Concluding Activity
What do you think are the advantages and influences/effects of conducting needs assessment or
needs analysis in syllabus designing?
Answer: Conducting needs assessments or needs analysis when designing a syllabus has a
variety of benefits and influences. A needs assessment is a useful tool for defining issues so that
limited resources can be allocated to finding workable solutions. In order to design the planning,
implementation, and evaluation of the learning program, learners, training providers, and/or
language training will benefit from the needs assessment process. It will aid in spotting any
knowledge gaps that your staff may have before they become a problem. It will directly examine
what the students already know and what they need to know because it is primarily focused on
the objectives and content of a course. The investigator can describe the "gap" between what is
already in place and what is required by gathering and examining data from the needs
assessment.
