1. Define self-management.
Ans: Self Management is the ability to regulate one’s emotions, thoughts and behaviours
effectively in different situations.

2. Write a short note on the factors influencing self management.


Ans:
The factors influencing Self Management are:
◦ Self-awareness: Knowing yourself as an individual such as your values, likes, dislikes,
strengths and weaknesses.
◦ Self-control: Ability to control your behavior, discipline etc.
◦ Self-confidence: Believing in yourself that you can do any task that is given to you and not
scared of taking risks.
◦ Problem Solving: Understanding a problem and finding a solution using a step by step
method.
◦ Self Motivation: Doing task on your own without any external motivation.
◦ Personal hygiene and grooming: Keeping one self-clean , healthy and smart.
◦ Positive Thinking: Expressing certainty or affirmation even with people to accomplish
shared goals
◦ Team work: Working together with people to accomplish shared goals.

3. Describe the meaning of self-confidence.


Ans: Self-confidence is a quality we build when we believe in our strength to succeed in
anything we do in life. People who are confident believe that they can do anything given to
them in any situation.

4. Define positive attitude.


Ans: Positive Attitude means looking at the good in things, observe, understand and
patiently work towards improving them rather than worrying or looking for the bad in things.

5. Explain how to build on your strengths and overcome from your weaknesses.
Ans) Building your strengths:

• Don’t compare yourself with others–but do approach people who inspire, and
even intimidate, you.
• Don’t concentrate on weaknesses, do concentrate on strengths.
• Use failure as motivation.
• Assess subsets of your strengths.
• Get additional training.
• Identify strength-enhancing opportunities.
• Deliberately practice.
• Learn from others.
• Be Open to Change.

Overcome from your weaknesses:


• Recognize and accept your weaknesses. You can't turn a weakness into a
strength if you're busy denying the weakness exists.
• Get guidance from someone you trust.
• Evaluate your weakness-take every weakness and try to find brighter side
of it.
• Hire the skills you lack.

6. List three things you will do for personal grooming in each of care, wash and avoid to
keep clean
Ans:
Care:
• Keep your hair free of dandruff.
• Rub oil/cream to take care of your skin.
• Brush your teeth daily.
• Change your toothbrush as soon as it de-shapes.
• Cut your nails every week.
Wash:
• Wash your hands frequently.
• Take bath every day.
• Wash your clothes regularly.
• Wash your hair at least every second day.
• Wash your feet often.
Avoid:
• Blow your nose /cough into a handkerchief to avoid spreading germs.
• Keep your feet dry.
• Change your socks every day.
7. List the benefits of maintaining personal hygiene.
Ans: The following are the benefits of maintaining personal hygiene:
a) Stay healthy.
b) Create a good image of ourselves.
c) Avoid feeling ashamed in public due to our bad breadth, body odour etc.

8. List the habits you need to avoid to maintain a good hygiene.


Ans: Some of the habits you need to avoid to maintain a good hygiene are:
• Sneezing and coughing in crowded rooms makes it easier to spread cold and flu
germs.
• Sharing towels can spread trachoma germs and other germs which cause eye
infections (runny or sore eyes)
• Several children sleeping in the same bed makes it easier to spread a scabies
infection
• Wearing used or wet clothes /socks.

9. Demonstrate the techniques to wash your hands effectively


Ans: Essential steps of hand washing:
1. Wet hands with water.
2. Apply enough soap to cover all hand surfaces.
3. Rub hands palm to palm.
4. Right palm over left dorsum and vice versa.
5. Palm to Palm with fingers interlaced.
6. Back of fingers to opposing palms with fingers interlocked.
7. Rotational rubbing of left thumb clasped in right palm and vice versa.
8. Rub inner surface of palms.
9. Rub inner surface using thumb.
10. Rinse hands thoroughly with water.
11. Use towel to dry
12. Your hands are now clean.

10.List the benefits of personal grooming.


Ans: The benefits of personal grooming are
• To Look smart.
• To Feel confident about ourselves
• To Make a good impression of ourselves.
