A measurement of this distance made in 2008 was 197 ± 45 pc. Without calculating the actual value,
explain how the radius of Betelgeuse found in (a)(ii) would change if the upper limit of this distance
measurement were used. Betelgeuse at this distance can be treated as a point source emitting light evenly
in all directions. (2 marks)
