What particular value do you think involving these

rules and signs that we follow?

In every rule or law there is a particular value and

that is LOVE. In fact God’s law, which is the Ten
Commandments, is also rooted in love. God gave
the Decalogue to his people as a sign of his love
for them. He does not want his people to
experience being unloved or being slaves again,
hence he gave them laws that would guide and
motivate them to live a loving and harmonious life.

In the New Testament, particularly in Mt 22:34-40,

Jesus summarized the Decalogue into the
Greatest Commandments of Love.

(The teacher will showthe gospel in the power

point presentation however the students is still
encouraged to locate the said verses in their own
Bible)

What does the Greatest Commandments of Love

say?

Jesus stressed the direct relationship between

love of God and love of neighbor. He explained
that the rest of the laws are based on the two.
They are like the hinges on which the entire law
hung. LOVE is the basis of everything that we do.
Why is LOVE the basis? Let us open our Bibles
to the 1st Letter of John 4:7-21.

II. EXPOSITION:
A. Sacred Scriptures: 1Jn 4:7-9
Guide questions:
1. According to the passage, where did love
originate from?
2. How can you describe a person when
he/she is in love?
3. How is God being described in the
passage?
4. How did God reveal His love to us?

 God is love and He loved us first.

 God’s love was revealed through His only
Son.
 Jesus manifested this perfect love by
following the will of His Father.
 Since God loves us so much, we also
ought to love one another.
 It is our response to the God who loved
us first.
 That is whyin response we are also called
to love:to love God through our
neighbors.

Jesus also shared in the story of the Parable of

those who are in need even our enemies. He
even identified himself with the least, the lost and
the last.(Mt 25:40)
