Learning Competencies
At the end of the cycle, the students should be able to:
1. Differentiate active from inactive volcano
2.
ELICIT Materials
Ask the students to describe the different Concept Map provided by the teacher
characteristic of a volcano
ENGAGE
Ask the students to cite all names of Blackboard and Chalk
volcanoes they know locally
EXPLORE
Perform the Activity Picture Cards, glue (To be provided by the
Activity 2: Volcanoes in the Philippines teacher)

Aim: Classify volcanoes as active or

inactive

Materials: Philippine Map, colored pens

Procedure:
1. Using the Philippine map, plot the
location of the following volcanoes.
Assign colors for the volcanoes.
Indicate this in the legend.

THE THREE STATE OF MATTER Video Presentation
Matter are made up of particle and it exist
in 3 state:
1. Solid – Particles of matter are very
close to each other. They hold each
other very tightly so there is a
strong force of attraction between
them
- They have a definite shape and
volume
2. Liquid – The particles are packed
closely together and much farther
apart than the particles in solid.
- The force of attraction in liquid is
weaker than it is in solid
- Liquid have a definite volume,
but they do not have a definite
shape
- Liquid take up the shape of the
container
3. Gase/s – The particles of matter are
very far away from each other
- The force of attraction between
particles of matter in gas is very
week
- Gases have neither a definite
shape nor volume
- Can fill the entire space or
volume of a container
irrespective of the container
size.

Answer the twenty given questions using power point presentation presented by the
power point presentation science teacher
EXTEND
At home, have the students draw three Scissors, pins, cut outs pictures of solid,
pictures or cut three pictures from liquid, and gas, bulletin board (to be
magazine—one picture for each state of provided by the teacher)
matter.

At school, prepare a bulletin board split

into three sections Entile it THE THREE
STATE OF MATTER. Subtitle the three
sections SOLID, LIQUID, GAS and have
the students pin their pictures in the
appropriate sections.
