Insulin Injection

1. Wash hands

6. Provide a comfortable position and assist the client in choosing the correct and comfortable
position
7. Choose the injection site
8. Disinfect the injection area
9. Use thumb and index finger to stretch the injection area
10. Use dominant hand to hold the flex pen and insert the needle at an angle of 45 or 90 from
the surface below the dermis
11. Lift the needle quickly while pressing against the skin with the non-dominant hand
12. Gently massage with an alcohol swab
13. Help the client get a comfortable position
14. Take off the gloves
15. Clean up the equipment
