General Member Goal is to improve the experience of

Consequences:
What is considered a warning: ● One warning = No immediate
● Arriving more than five minutes late to an event without consequence

● Failing to correctly read/follow instructions from emails event

BMI (Body Mass Index) SCREENINGS

1) Enter in patient’s height, weight, gender and age

2) Have patient grip the handles with thumbs


pointed upwards and arms extended out

BMI numbers are categorized into underweight, normal,


overweight, and obese

Vision Screenings

1) Have patient stand ~10 feet away and cover one eye
with their hand while reading the chart from left to
right, top to bottom

2) Do the same with the other eye

3) Last correctly identified row accurately measures their


visual acuity. Note that the number should be doubled

HAND DYNAMOMETER SCREENINGS
1) Enter the age, weight, and gender and adjust the
handle

2) Have the patient sit straight, hold the machine with


their elbows at 90 degrees, and press with maximum
effort for at least 5 seconds

3) Repeat with the other hand

Results measure the maximum force from their forearm muscles and indicates weak,
normal, strong

Hypertension Training Sessions
Must be certified by American Hearts Association (AHA) to perform hypertension
screenings at our Health Sites and Health Fair

Fall Hypertension Training Session Dates:


● Week 4 Friday (10/21) 6-8 PM
● Week 6 Friday (11/4) 6-8 PM
● Week 8 Friday (11/18) 5-7 PM

Location: Neuroscience Research Building 132

Hypertension certification lasts for 2 years, after which you must be recertified.
Training is free :D
HYPERTENSION SCREENINGS
1) Ask the patient if they‘ve exercised, consumed caffeine, or
eaten

2) Have patients sit relaxed and one arm at 90 degrees and


palm upwards

3) Place cuff with the gray cord aligned to the pinky and start
the machine

Results indicate blood pressure and heart rate
