David Tjandra Nugraha is applying for a position on a research project related to food data science and analysis at Szent István University. He has a background in food science and technology with experience in food chemistry, physics, and spectroscopy. During his master's degree, he gained extensive exposure to near infrared spectroscopy analysis and using electronic tongue biosensors, which increased his knowledge in data science areas like chemometrics and multivariate analysis. He has been working to improve an R programming package for spectral data analysis and hopes to expand its functionality. David believes his qualifications and understanding of food processing and quality factors would allow him to contribute to the project. He highlights his curiosity, resilience, language skills, and eagerness

Dear Prof. X and Dr. Y
I am writing to convey my interest in the ………position on “............” at …………. The research topic is in line with my research interest and expertise during my study. à Intro -> keadaan kalian bagaimana -> apa dasar / consideration memilih topik ini
As a graduate of food technology, I have gained substantial knowledge in various food products, and have conducted different experiments on diverse food matrices. I had my BSc and MSc in Food Science and Technology Engineering, where I built a solid foundation of understanding related to food products. I excel at food physics, food chemistry, and have profound interest in the application of data science in food products. During my MSc year, I had extensive exposure to Near Infrared Spectroscopy (NIRS) analysis for various food products, mainly to detect food adulterants from more precious food commodities. I also had first-hand experience using the electronic tongue biosensor, where it requires sophisticated data analysis. My experiences allow me to gain knowledge on chemometrics and multivariate analysis, required to analyze the complex data of the experiments . My interest in data science deepened, due to the influence of my supervisor (Dr. Z), who built a universal package for NIRS spectral analysis using R programming called the aquap2 package (https://www.aquaphotomics.com/aquap2/). While it is now very robust in its function, we are working to perfect the functionality of this package, and hopefully extend the package to other branches of spectroscopy. Its current function enables the user to manually truncate certain wavelengths in the spectral data, applying spectral pre-treatment, as well as making multivariate models and independent prediction of values. The team is now perfecting the package with some experimental features such as Artificial Neural Network (ANN), and Support-Vector Machine (SVN). Although I started with little programming ability, the activities of my colleagues greatly expanded my knowledge in R programming, and I remained curious and passionate about data science and food analysis.
I firmly believe that I have the necessary qualifications and knowledge for the project, and that there are some merits in accommodating a graduate from food technology, as I have deep understanding of meat physics and processing. This allows me to contribute in theoretical interpretation of the meat quality and different external and internal factors in meat processing. This contribution is not limited to meat products, as my knowledge translates to various food products, processing technology, and phenomena. As a person, I am deeply curious, resilient, and confident. These traits allow me to top my MSc as the best graduate in the education phase. Having international experiences also allow me to be more perceptive and aware in international social and work situations. I also have the intention to learn the working languages of my environment, in this case, the Dutch, German, and French languages. I am a rapid learner of languages and an avid English user (IELTS of 8.5). I am convinced that I will be a valuable addition to the team in this project, and I am eager to exceed the expectations of the colleagues.
