2022 SINING TANGHALAN COMPETITION


MUSIC COMPETITIONS

General Guidelines:
1. Each entry should provide a certificate of enrollment of each student participant signed by the school
head.
2. The performers/ participants for LIKHAWITAN shall wear plain white shirt and maong pants/jeans,
while for the other events, they may wear the most appropriate attire.
3. There should only be ONE coach for each entry/ event.
4. Drawing of lots will done on the day of the competition.
5. The decision of the Board of Judges is final and irrevocable.

ELEMENTARY LEVEL

 VOCAL SOLO
Guidelines:
A. The contest is open to pupils from Grades 1- 6, boy or girl.
B. Performance should be in Bicol dialect, Bicol song in any genre (published/ unpublished)
C. Accompaniment is only limited to GUITAR OR KEYBOARD ONLY.
D. The accompanist must be a DepEd employee.
E. Medley is not allowed.

Criteria for Judging:


Musicality (tonality, vocal quality, enunciation)- 40%
Performance (projection, interpretation)- 30%
Repertoire (suitability of the piece)- 20%
Deportment- 10%

SECONDARY LEVEL

 LIKHAWITAN
Guidelines:
A. Each entry shall be composed of four (4) members- singer, accompanist, songwriter,
reliever.
B. Each group will be given eight (8) hours to compose the song based on the theme
which will be given during the orientation at 7:45- 8:00 a.m. on the scheduled day.
C. The coach should stay in a designated area/ room during the competition. He/ She is
not allowed to perform any coaching task when the competition starts.
D. The handwritten notated composition with the lyrics and chords must be submitted to
the contest administrator after the allotted time which is at 4pm of the sighted day.
E. The contestants are allowed to use acoustic guitar in aid to songwriting composition.
F. The song performance must not exceed five (5) minutes including entrance and exit.

A one (1) point deduction from the general average score of each judge shall be made for
every 30-second extension.
G. No props will be allowed during the performance. A violation of this provision shall
incur a 5-point deduction from each judge.
H. Participants must come on time, thus late contestants will no longer be entertained.

Criteria for Judging:


First part: SONGWRITING
Lyrics (relevance to the theme)- 25%
Music (arrangement and melody)- 25%
Originality- 15%

Second part: PERFORMANCE


Vocal quality- 20%
Showmanship (stage presence, interpretation)- 15%

SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL LEVEL

 BICOL CONTEMPORARY SONG COMPOSITION/ PERFORMANCE


Guidelines:
A. The competition is open to all Senior High School students.
B. Each group should be composed of four (4) members/ performers.
C. Each group will be given eight (8) hours to compose the song based on the theme
which will be given during the orientation at 7:45- 8:00 a.m. on the scheduled day.
D. The composition should be in any Bicol dialect.
E. A translated text (lyrics) of the composition must be provided either in English or
Filipino which will be given to the judges during the competition.
F. The song performance must not exceed five (5) minutes including entrance and exit.
G. The performance should be in a capella.

Criteria for Judging:


First part: SONGWRITING
Lyrics (relevance to the theme)- 25%
Music (arrangement, melody, harmony)- 30%
Originality- 15%

Second part: PERFORMANCE


Vocal quality- 20%
Showmanship (stage presence, interpretation)- 10%

ALTERNATIVE LEARNING SYSTEM (ALS) LEVEL

 VOCAL DUET
Guidelines:
A. The competition is open to Junior and Senior ALS students only.
B. The performers can be mixed (male and female), male and male, female and female.
C. Performers should sing an Original Pilipino Music (OPM).
D. Accompaniment should be canned music (recorded/ minus one). Medley is not
allowed.
E. The song performance must not exceed five (5) minutes including entrance and
exit.

Criteria for Judging:


Musicality (tonality, harmony, vocal quality, enunciation)- 40%
Performance (projection, interpretation)- 30%
Repertoire (suitability of the piece)- 20%
Deportment- 10%
