INTRODUCTION

Peru is a country with an ancient mining

tradition and enormous geological
potential.
At a global and Latin American level,
Peru is among the leading producers of
various metals (gold, silver, copper,
lead, zinc, iron, tin, molybdenum,
tellurium, among others).
ECONOMIC
DATA
GOLD
In the world we are the sixth place
This comes from:
• The veins
• Epithermal high and low
sulfidation.
• Skarn type deposit.
SILVER
In the world we are the second place.
This comes from:
• The ANTAMINA mining company, which
works with skarn metallogeny, is the
leading producer of silver.
• Epithermal high and low sulfidation.
.
COPPER
In the world we are the second place.
This comes from:
• Skarn-type deposit in mining companies in
Antamina, Toromocho, the Bambas and Constancia.
• Copper porphyry in Toquepala, Cuajone, Quellaveco
and Cerro VERDE mining companies.
LEAD
We are fourth in the world.
This comes from:
• Skarn-type deposit in
Antamina.
• Polymetallic veins.
MOLYBDENUM
In the world we are the fourth place
This comes from:
• Skarn-type deposit in Antamina
• In copper porphyries, which is the
deposit from which Molybdenum
comes the most.
ZINC
In the world we are the third place.
This comes from:
• Skarn-type deposit in Antamina
• Polymetallic veins
TIN
In the world we are the third place.
• This ore comes mainly from the San
Rafael mine (Puno).
IRON
Peru is not in the world ranking, but we
could place ourselves if we exploit the
different IOCG deposits.
GENESIS OF MINERALS
 In Peru we have Marcona-type IOCG deposits,
skarn-type deposits that are giant polymetallic,
and these deposits are also found in mining
companies such as: Antamina, the Bambas,
Toromocho and Constancia.

 Veins on the coast and highland

 Where:
• The plutonic veins on the coast are related to a
pluton or batholith.
• Low sulfidation epithermal veins in the
highland.
GENESIS OF MINERALS

• In Peru we have high sulfidation epithermals. Example:

yanococha, pierina and northern lagoons.
• In Moquegua we have Aruntani where the last EPITHERMAL
deposit discovered in Ichuña is included which is Chucapaca.
REQUIREMENTS NEEDED FOR MINERALIZATION IN
PERU
 Mineralization is the result of
original faulting.
 For the mineralization to come
out there must be water
because they are hydrothermal
deposits.
MINERAL LATIN AMERICA WORLD RESERVES %
SILVER 1 1 4,485,258 24.47%
PRAYED 1 6 84,457 4.6%
COPPER 2 3 80,745 11.2%
ZINC 1 3 24,997 12.7%
LEAD 1 4 6,294 7.1%
MOLYBDENUM 2 2 2,856 21.6%
CONCLUSIONS
• Peru is the second largest producer of
silver and copper worldwide. Likewise, it
is the first producer of gold, zinc, tin, lead
and molybdenum in Latin America.
• The Andes Mountains are the main
source of mineral deposits in the world.
