 First Couplet
‫تذ كر ربات ااقداءومشجال‬ ‫دعاني من سلمي و ليلي و قلال‬

I was called by (voice like that of) Salma, Layla and Qallilah ,
Mention is the (3 men in search of love)desperation(of love) let them to tragedy .

Sheikh (RA) explained how he was attracted to Rasulullah(SAW) describing it as the call of love
from Salma to her Ajah, that of Layla to her Qays AKA Majnun and that of Qallilah to her love hero.
Arabian world recorded selfless and epic love adventures between lady Salma and her Ajah, Layla
and her Majnun, Ablah and her Antarah, Bothaina and her Janeel, Jeinal and Qutus and

The same way the three men in search of love of Salma, Layla & Qallilah met tragedies, sheikh(RA)
met tragedies in search of love of Rasulullah(SAW)
The translator during his life as undergraduate in the university met a lady whom he addressed as Layla and
she addressed him as Majnoun, however after making contact with Sheikh’s(RA) works, he realized that
the lady was not Layla, it was a man who never sees lion on seeing cat thought it is lion.
 Second Couplet
‫علي ءادم لذكان فرعا ماصال‬ ‫لذكر الذي من ذكره تيب قبله‬

For the remembrance of he who was mentioned by the proscribed,

On top of Adam for the (inscription) besides novelty.

Al-Hakim, Al-Bayhaqiyy, and others related when Prophet Adam repented to Allah after eating
from the tree which he was not permitted to eat from, that he said: O my Lord, I ask you by
Prophet Muhammad to forgive me. Adam was asked: how did you know Prophet Muhammad
when he is not yet created. Adam replied, I know of him because when I was created, I raised
my head and saw written on the pillars of the (^Arsh) Throne: LA ILAHA ILLALLAH
MUHAMMADUN RASULULLAH I understood then that Allah would only place next to His
Name the name of His most beloved creation.
Sheikh(RA) is also mentioning that great name Muhammad(SAW) which Adam(AS) mentioned
and was forgivrn for eating the proscribed tree, the tree of knowledge.

‫مدي الدهر و االيام خير من‬ ‫لذكر الذي لم يذكر الحق غيره‬

For the remembrance of he who The Real(God) never extols any other than him,
In all generations and days, (for) He (Muhammad SAW) is the best of those sent (by
God).

Allah extols all his messengers 313 of them(ASA), but the way He extols Muhammad(SAW) is
far different to show us how distinguish Muhammad(SAW) is from the rest. There are six unique
of these in the holy Qur’an:
1. Muhammad(SAW) is addressed as the mercy to universe no other apostle (AS) is. (Qur’an
21:107)
2. God remarked Muhammad(SAW) is highest standard of character none was addressed as
such. (Qur’an 68:4)
3. Allah ordered Qiblah to be direction of Jerusalem, Muhammad(SAW) didn’t like it and
preferred the ancient Ka’aba. He looked up without even saying prayer.
And Allah instantly ordered a change from Jerusalem to Ka’aba because of what is in the mind of
Muhammad(SAW) no one the divine essence ever did that to. Moses (AS) came closer to that
when Allah sent thunderbolt destroying children of Israel, but Moses(AS) prayed before God
reversed His decision and restored lives to children of Israel. But Muhammad(SAW) just raised
head up toward the throne without praying and the Divine Essence reverted the divine ordain.
(Qur’an 2:144)
4. When people assault him(SAW) Allah consoles him(SAW), none of the remaining
messengers(ASA) were consoled by God Himself. This can be found in Suratul Duha, Taha,
Yusuf, Inshirah, Maryam and many other places in the holy Qur’an.
5. God never call him(SAW) by name except narration. Narration means calling the name as third
person and never as second person normally preceeded with Ya. All other messengers were
addressed by their names in second person by God.
6. God defended any allegation levelled against him(SAW) and his households directly. Never
did God defended allegations against other messengers(ASA) He allowed them to do that and
that of their household. When illicit sex was levelled against Mary (RA) the mother of Jesus
Christ(AS) God did not defend her, He allowed Jesus Christ(AS) her family member to defend
her. But when same charge is levelled against A’isha(RA) the wife of Muhammad(SAW), God
directly defended her not allowing Muhammad(SAW) do it.(Ten verses of Suratul Nur are in
defence of A’isha(RA) by God directly)
Humble and sincere Apology
The translator solemnly apologise for his regular mentioning of thie great name (Muhammad
SAW) instead of using honourable titles for the name instead. the translator out of love wants to
mention the name perchance, God Almighty will bless him with identifying with that great name
that never fails who calls it.
 Fourth Couplet

‫لدي ذكره و القلب صار مقتال‬ ‫لذكر الذي تعرو فءادي هزت‬

To mention the one who stripped my heart shakenly (with love),

And for his constant yearnings, the heart became killed(in action KIA).

Sheikh(RA) esclaimed that for the prophet(SAW) the spiritual love stripped his heart of love of
anything and it shaken and dropped anyone leaving Muhammad(SAW).
Anas and Abu Hurayrah, (may Allah be pleased with both of them) reported that the
Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "None of you will attain
perfect faith until I am more beloved to him than his child, his parent, and all people." 
Yearnings of Rasulullah(SAW) killed the heart of Sheikh(RA) and it dies from loving
any other person.
The Prophet said, peace be upon him: ‘Among those of my nation (ummah) that most fervently love
me will be a people who shall come after me, and who would give up their family and property in
exchange for being able to see me.’
 Fifth Couplet

‫و منه ضياء البدر بدرا مكمال‬ ‫لذكر الذي طاب الجنان بنشره‬

To mention the one whom the two paradises become pleasant by his advent,
And from him is a Halo (glowing like) a complete moon.

The soul of Muhammad(SAW) is in the form of magnificent light called Halo or holy spirit. A
hadith narrated the creation of the Halo:
One day, Sayyidina Ali (as), karam Allahu wajhahu (may Allah (AJ) ennoble
his face), asked, ‘O Rasulullah ‫ﷺ‬, I pray you tell me what the Lord Almighty
created before all other beings of creation.’This was his blissful reply: ‘Verily,
before your Lord made any other thing, He created from His own Light the
light of your Prophet ‫ﷺ‬. And that Light rested, haithu mashaAllah, where
Allah (AJ) willed it to rest. And at that time there existed aught else – not the
Preserved Tablets, not the Pen, not Heaven nor Hell, not the Angelic Host,
not the heavens nor the earth. There was no sun, no moon, no star,
no jinn nor man, nor angel – none was as yet created, only this Light.
Any other thing was created from the light and soul of Muhammad(SAW).
The Halo or light which the soul of Rasulullah(SAW) is , was mentiond in Suratul Ma’idah :
15-16 “….There has come to you from Allah a light and a clear Book….”
Muhammad(SAW) and the holy Qur’an.
This is why Ibn 'Abbas narrates saying that the Prophet said: "I was Prophet when
Adam was between soul and body (i.e. when Adam's creation was in its preliminary
stages)" (at-Tabarani, Al-Mu'jjam al-Kabir; Al Khasa'is al-Kubra, vol.1, p.4).
Muhammad's Light adorned the 'Arsh (Throne) of God. When eons later, Adam
was created, that Light was put in his forehead. It continued its journey, generation
after generation, through numerous prophets and their successors till it came to
Prophet Ibrahim (a.s.). From Ibrahim (a.s.), it came to his eldest son, Prophet Isma'il
(a.s.).
The Holy Prophet (SAW.) said: "Verily Allah chose Isma'il from the progeny of
Ibrahim, and chose Banu Kinanah from the progeny of Isma'il, and chose Quraish
from the Banu Kinanah, and chose Banu Hashim from Quraish, and chose me from
Banu Hashim." At-Tirmidhi has narrated this tradition from Wathilah ibn al-Asqa' and
has said that this tradition is sahih
Ibn 'Abbas [may Allah be pleased with them both] that the Prophet [pbuh] said, "Jibril
came to me and said: 'Allah said: 'If it were not for you [Muhammad] I would not have
created Paradise and if it were not for you I would not have created Hellfire.“ Ibn
Taymiyyah attacked this hadith in his Majma’ul Fatawah levelling it as fabricated hadith,
however he himself later agreed to the content that if God created men and Jinn only to
worship Him and created paradise and Hell to reward and punish men and Jinn
regarding how they worship Him and Muhammad(SAW) is best in worshipping Him then
it can indirectly be said paradise is created because of Muhammad(SAW).
 Sixth Couplet

‫لبدرة هذا الكون اذ كان مرسال‬ ‫فلواله ال تلفي ليادا فانه‬

If not for him(SAW) worship will not glamour, for he,

Is the beginning of the universe when it was sent

Sheikh(RA) used ancient word “Yadah” which is Abrahamic ancient word for praising and
worshipping God. The word is two Abrahamic words Yad for hand and Ah for Almighty God, joined
together mean :Hand to God”. It carries the meaning of absolute surrender as a child does to a
parent - "pick me up, I'm all yours”. This perfect degree to submission to God (Yadah) is never
achieved until Muhammad(SAW) came.
Muhammad(SAW) soul is the origin of universe, from it the universe was created. And
he(SAW) the origin was sent to the entire universe as messenger from God conveying the last
divine ministry.
 Seventh Couplet

‫و لواله الرض حياتي بلحظة فحي بغير المصطفي البدر اهمال‬

And if it wasn’t for him(SAW),the land of my life wouldn’t have been

conspicuous,
For life without Al-Mustapha Al-Badr(SAW) is (life) derelict.

Al-Badr is a title sheikh((RA) gave the prophet(SAW) it means “He who is as bright as full moon”.
Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (may Allah's
peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Everyone of my Ummah will enter Paradise
except those who refuse.” It was said: "Who does refuse, O Messenger of Allah?" He said:
"He who obeyed me, shall enter Paradise, and who disobeyed me, indeed he has refused.’
A dictum said, “Heart without Muhammad is a waste”.
or he who hateth thee (Muhammad SAW), he will be cut off (from Future Hope). Qur’an
108:3
The life of sheik(h(RA) became noticeable, courtesy of the love of the prophet(SAW) and strict
adherence to his (SAW) teachings; it became noticeable when Cairo university invited him(RA) in
1961. the visit made the learned Professors of Arabic and Islamic Studies who were invited around the
globe to discover Sheikh(RA) as their grandmaster in knowledge and they nicknamed him as Sheikhul
Islam. From the first visit, it opened nine other visits by Sheikh(RA) to Egypt which culminated in
him becoming member of Supreme Council of Islamic Affairs in Egypt.
Among the ten visits to Egypt, sheikh(RA) was invited byCairo university on July 21, 1961 to lead
Jumma’at prayer session and he was the first black African to be given this honour by Cairo university.
After Sheikh(RA) delivered the Friday sermon, thereafter sheikh Muhammad Al-Ghazali commented
on the sermon saying “We rest assured regarding the future of the Muslim world as long as there
are the likes of our eminent guest Shaykhul Islam, Sheikh Ibrahim amongs the Muslims”.
The prestigious biographical publications in Efypt known as Al-Ahram inserted biography of
Sheikh(RA) in its report on December 27, 1999. Sheikh(RA) is the first black African religious
leader to have a special file at Al-Ahram.
The Egyptian hadith scholar Sheikh Muhammad al-Hafeez remarked regarding sheikh(RA)
by saying “To put it concisely, he is the light of this age”.
All these are graces from arduously loving Rasulullah(SAW) by sheikh(RA) and striving to strictly
adhere to the teachings of Rasulullah(RA) that made life of Sheikh(RA) noticeable and enviable.
 Eighth Couplet

‫حياة و موتا نال عزا مبجال‬ ‫و من بصفات المصطفي ءاله كله‬

And from the conducts of Mustapha(SAW), (and) all his households(Ahlil

Bayt),
(In) Life and dead, one achieves venerable honour .

iSheikh(RA) is saying to he who read the previous couplet about what he personally achieved in
life because of Rasulullah(SAW) making his life noticeable; he in this couplet said, why can’t that be
the case, for whosoever follows the conducts of Mustapha (SAW) and his households, then for sure
in his life (life in this world) and his dead (life in the next world) will ACHIEVE A VENERABLE
HONOUR!
Prophetic hadith established “Teach your children three conducts: love of their prophet(SAW), his
households and love of reading the holy Qur’an.
 Ninth Couplet

‫فقل فيه ما قد شءت عبدا مفضال‬ ‫مءاثر خير الخلق غير محصر‬

The influence of the best of (all) creations(SAW) is not limited,

So say regarding him what you wish, a favorite slave.

To cut it short the influence of Mustapha(SAW) who is the best ever created is not limited to
only one group of people or one generation, it is so boiunty that the entire universe is blessed.
The Statement of Allah the Exalted: "It may be that your Lord will raise
you to Maqām Mahmūd (Praised station, the honour of intercession on
the Day of Resurrection) ." (Qur’an17:79)
The prophet(SAW) will be praised by every creature on the day of
resurrection because of six intercession s he(SAW) will do.
The six places of the intercessions that elevated Rasulullah(SAW) to the praised position are:
 Rasulullah(SAW) will praise and beg God to establish judgment as all creatures were
impatient for the long and hard waiting for it and God will establish it as requested.
Everyone will praise Rasulullah(SAW) for that.
 Rasulullah(SAW) will intercede for people with faith who have major sins and are doomed
for Hell and they will be forgiven and allow to enter paradise. These people will praise
Rasulullah(SAW).
 The people on the height that have equal sins and rewards they cannot be in Hell and cannot
be in Paradise. Rasulullah(SAW) will intercede for them and they will be granted Paradise
and will praise him.
 Rasulullah(SAW) will intercede for some people of faith to enter Paradise without
accountability and reckoning. They will praise Rasulullah(SAW).
 The men of faith and good deeds will receive intercession of Rasulullah(SAW) to be
granted enterance into Paradise even if there are minor sins .
 People in Hell fire can as well receive intercession of Rasulullah(SAW) li by having
reduction in their punishments ke the case of Abu Talib, the Paternal uncle of
Rasulullah(SAW).
Sheik(RA) exclaimed that anyone among the Poets and Praise Singers may praise
Rasulullah(SAW) for on the day of resurrection he(SAW) will be praised by all creatures in a
better fashion. Sheikh(RA) cautioned at the end that Rasulullah is a favourite servant of God that
is the limit of praising him(SAW) he is not God as the Christians praised their prophet(AS) and
called him God. At the end of it the praise should stop at the boundary between God and Servant
of God, never go beyond that.
 Tenth Couplet

‫و صحبي و اححبابي و من كان‬ ‫فيا رب فاجعلني لديه مقربا‬

O! Lord, do make me be close by his(SAW) side,

And also (shall be) my companions and lovers and who achieved arcane access .

Prayer of lover is to be with whom loved, Sheikh’s prayer is to be with prophet(SAW) whom he
loves.
In recognition of lover’s earnest like to be with one loves, prophetic hadith says “Man is
together with whom he loves.”.
Sheikh(RA) includes in his prayer, his companions who lived with him in his lifetime and also
includes us who came after his companions and love him dearly. Ameen and ameen. Chain of
love makes his companions and lovers also hoping to be with Rasulullah(SAW).
Arcane access is mysterious phenomena where the faculty of comprehension of Sufi is unveiled
to comprehend the unshakeable existence of God Almighty.
 Eleventh Couplet

‫االي ابد االبد ميءا مرسل‬ ‫و تجعلنا المتقين اءملة‬

And (also) make us (O! Lord) a Godly society that is pious,

Forever and ever(Flowing like) rushing water.

Sheikh(RA) makes a prayer for the nation of Islam, that Islamic society be Godly society and
Taqwa playing vital role so that there will be social and spiritual harmony.
And the Islamic society be in that social and spiritual harmony forever, first in this world and
continuous to the next world after dead. The continuity like rushing water which has mystical
meaning in Islam.
Rushing water means spiritual flood which brings flooding of social and spiritual harmony to
the Islamic society.
 Twelfth Couplet

‫و قو يقين المقتفين ذوي العال‬ ‫و لين صخور الماردين و هدها‬

And the soft rocks of Mardin and demolish them,,
And the certainty of the trackers with high status.

The city is located on the slope of a hill looking down south to the Mesopotamian
plains. Mardin is on the main routes connecting Turkey to Syria and Iraq. The history of
the city dates as far back as the Flood. History had it that the tribe of Thamud were
heavily built and bestowed with talent of building houses on rocks. But when they
disobeyed a Messenger Methusaleh(AS) sent to them they were destroyed by
thunderbolt and storm to them is a blessings that is cut off later with destruction, it
should not be our case in the prayer in the previous couplet.
The Thamud and the ´Ad People (branded) as false the Stunning Calamity! But the Thamud,-
they were destroyed by a terrible Storm(5638) of thunder and lightning! Qur’an 69:4-5
Mardin as it stands today, a UNESCO site
Mardin – houses constructed on rocks, remnant of Thamud –
the believers among the tribe that were spared and live today.
 Thirteenth Couplet

‫و نج جميع المءمين من ابتال‬ ‫و اغن فقير المنتمين من ابتال‬

And enrich the poor among the pious ones from trial (of poverty),
And rescue all the believers (from all ordeals) those afflicted.

Sheikh(RA) prays for Islamic society, the pious ones to be enrichen against poverty. Minor
poverty is economic poverty while the extreme is spiritual poverty.
In Sufism poverty is symbolized by thirsty and richness by water. Physical thirsty is quenched
by water (economic poverty) and spiritual thirsty is quenched by spiritual water(faydha) (spiritual
poverty).
He also prays that the believers afflicted with ordeals all over the globe be rescued from the
ordeals. Those with long ordeal like occupied West bank were Palestinians are killed each day, in
prayer. Also in prayer are other Muslim societies.
 Fourteenth Couplet
.
‫فانك ملجا العاجرين مجلال‬ ‫ترقيهم يا رب يا بالشكر داءما‬

Promote them (Believers by giving them) constant gratitude,

For you (O! Lord) is the biggest shelter to the weaks.

Sheikh(RA) continues his prayer that Islamic society be made constantly grateful to God
Almighty.
Gratitude manifests in three organs of the body:
 Mind felt the need to thank God and obey Him.
 Tongue praises Him as a result
 Body obeys Him as a result.
Allah is the biggest shelter to the weaks.
 “Beware of the supplication of the oppressed, for it is carried above the
clouds. Allah Almighty says: By My might and majesty, I will help you in due
time” Hadith
 Fifteenth Couplet

‫و او ضعفت ءاراءهم يا مءمال‬ ‫ايا رب يا من جنده الدهر غالب‬

O! Lord, o! He whose troups are victorious in all (records of ) time (and history)),
and their morale is weakened O! The (Giver of ) Hope.

God Almighty gave victory to His faction even where the conditions of victory were not
met. He gave victory of David(AS) against Goliath when no conditions of victory are
available, he came Muhammad(SAW) victory over Meccan pagans in plain of Badr when
there are no such conditions.
Almighty also denied ungodly faction victory even when they thought they have it. The
Meccan pagans thought they defeated Muhammad(SW) on battle of Uhud, when they
inflicted heavy casualties on his army. But two things God denied them and later led to
besieged and fall of Mecca and the whole Arabian peninsula to the hand of
Muhammad(SAW); they fell to besiege Medina the capital city of Muhammad(SAW) and
they fell to end his(SAW) life to bring his mission to an end._
 Sixteenth Couplet

‫فلم يخشي من يلجا اليك توكال‬ ‫لك الحمد و الشكر المسرمد داءما‬

To you(O! Lord) are praises and gratitude perpetually and in all times,
There will be no fear to one who put his trust (and reliance) upon you.

Gratitude and praising God is supposed to be reciprocal duty of man to God , considering all
what God has done to man but man did the opposite. “ Truly man is, to his Lord, ungrateful;”
Qur’an 100:6
“…And if any one puts his trust in Allah, sufficient is (Allah) for him…” Qur’an 65:3
The trust Muhammad(SAW) put on Allah grants him victories in all directions and his
enemies were forced to suffer humiliating defeat even though they are mightier than
his small state of Medina. This victory continued after time and mighty empires fell to
the hands of his companions. Persia fell, Egypt fell, and so on and so on.
 Seventeenth Couplet

‫و ءال و اصحاب و من كان مرسال‬ ‫صالة و تسليم علي طاه احمد‬

Peace and blessings of Allah shall be on Taha, Ahmad(SAW),

And on his family , companions and who are sent (by God).

Taha is another name of the prophet(SAW). It was one of the combination of Haruful muqattaát
which mysteriously was mentioned in the Holy Qurán. Only Allah knows the fullest meaning of
these combination, but Qur’anic commentators have made an attempt to explain it. They said Ta
stands for Tariq and Ha to be Huda; join together gives Tariq Al-Huda (The path of guidance) and
that’s the prophet(SAW) himself.
Those sent are the 313 apostles(ASA) sent by God with a mission to several cities and towns
and the one with universal mission is Ahmad(SAW)..
