1.What strategy/ies did you use to communicate
with Anne?

The strategies that I used are, Turn taking and

topic shifting.

Turn Taking: In our conversation with Anne, we

speak one at a time in sequential turns or in other
words our communication is a listener and speaker
(exchange back and forth). Like for example, she
introduced herself to me, and then I did the same,
and so on with the rest of the talk.

Topic Shifting: On the other hand, we also used

the topic shifting, or as we all know it is the
changing of the discussion(topic), and we did not
focus on one . For example, she asked me where
do I live and I answered it, after that I asked her
too if she's studying in National University.

2.How effective are these strategies to keep the

conversation smooth and going?

The communication strategies are very effective in

our conversation because they provide us with a
way to improve our communication skills,
especially since Anne and I met for the first time
and want to have a nice small talk with each
other, so we both need to be responsible for the
responses we will use to have a good
communication. We listen and speak to each other,
which is why we have a nice conversation, and I
am aware that this is one of the keys to effective
communication.
