What is your role or contribution in our country’s Disaster Risk Reduction and Management
(DRRM) Plan ?
Student’s Answer:

The Philippines is prone to natural hazards such as typhoons, landslides,

earthquakes, and volcanic eruptions, and because of this, DRRM was made.
Disaster risk management is a policy and strategy to avoid a new disaster, decrease
current disaster risk and manage waste risk, enable greater resilience, reduce
disaster losses, and reduce disaster risk in disaster risk. As a youth, I can have my
contribution to help.

There are many ways to contribute during the pre-disaster stage, where
prevention, mitigation, and preparedness are done. I can join training exercises on
disaster and relief operations. Also, organize a group for disaster response and
coordination, and work with other organizations. With this knowledge and practice,
I could help more people during the disaster. After the catastrophe, I could use my
strength by sorting, loading, and distributing relief goods. Apply my practice on
administering first aid treatment on victims, and disseminate information to them.
Once everything is under control, I should still survey the affected families and
areas and continue monitoring the work.

Doing the work is easy, but having the heart to do the job will make it
passionate. I believe that helping is by nature; we help because we want to, and
having the heart to help is a gift. Overall, everyone must do thorough research
about the pre and post-disaster steps to achieve a higher survival.
