﴿‫( ﴾ِإنَّ الَّ ِذينَ َكفَ ُرو ْا‬Verily, those who disbelieve) meaning, covered the truth and hid it.
Since Allah knows that they would do so, it does not matter if you (O Muhammad

with.

Muhammad ) warn them or do not warn them, they will not believe) They have
decided not to believe, they don’t want to change there ways so they will not
believe.

 First group: Muttaqeen ‘ Those who conscious of Allah’

 Second group: Kafir ‘Those who disbelieved’

Who are kaafir?

Kaafir is one who hides.

 What other ways Kaafir is used?

o literal meaning ‘to cover’

o Kufr is also used for ungratefulness. A Kafir hides the favor/kindness that is
shown to him.

So anyone who hides anything can be called kaafir. Technically it is disbelief or

denial of something which is must and necessary to believe in.

 Disbeliever is called Kafir because:

o He covers and hides the truth by denying it

o He is promoting falsehood.

o He is covering fitrah which automatically incline us towards the truth. It

includes denial of Allah and His prophets.

This word ‘Kafir’ is used to mean all ‘non-believers’ in Islamic beliefs.

 What are some Major disbelief?

1. The outright denial of Allah, His messengers and His books.

2. Knowing the truth but still denying it. e.g. satan when asked to prostrate.
3. Doubt and suspicions: A person who is not sure and does not make the effort to
learn the truth.

 What are some Minor kufr?

1. To show off.
2. To be ungrateful.

 Why did Allah sealed their hearts?

The seal on their hearts means that they are stubborn on the kufr and no more
change on them will happen and they will not gain anything from the warning.

Example is a machine which is not being used for long time and it keeps on
collecting dust and eventually it is so badly damaged that it stops working
completely. Allah sealed their heart because of their kufr and denial.
They followed their desires and did not believe in the truth and they hid the truth
so Allah put a seal on their hearts

 What is the outcome of their kufr?

1. It is a great punishment. A description of punishment: Adhab is when the

person was stripped off with the pleasure, comfort, life, enjoyment and
everything that is pleasing to them.

2. Atheem: greatest: because of their denial they will get great punishment
mentally and physically.

 Why will it be great punishment?

1. Punishment of the fire which is not bearable

2. It is eternal and everlasting
3. It is intense, so it is great in its intensity.

 Reflection: What did you learn from the verses 6-7 of Surah Al-Baqarah?
