CHAPTER 1
INTRODUCTION
Since the country's energy infrastructure is unreliable and in some areas underdeveloped. We
also noticed that the country's energy sources are mostly non-renewable like coal. We look
for opportunities in areas like wheeled solar panels as charging stations for phones. Even
though phones take less energy to charge we may try to innovate or use the technology
available to us to reduce each student's carbon footprint.
We look for other countries that have similar problems like the Philippines in regards to
energy. Bangladesh is facing a serious energy crisis which is a great barrier to overall
development. Known reserves (e.g., natural gas and coal) of commercial primary energy
sources in Bangladesh are limited in comparison to the development requirements of the
nation.(Bahauddin, K. M.,Salahuddin, T. M.2012).We find that renewable energy sources can
help solve the energy crisis and can help meet energy demand in other areas where it is not
accessible, unreliable, unsafe and toxic to the environment.
We look at the study of using wheeled solar panels as charging stations for phones as a
solution for students. Is the technology viable to the energy needs of charging phones needed
in students' reliance on smartphones everyday?
This study attempts to determine the Student’s perception of wheeled solar panels as charging
stations in a private catholic school.
1. What are the perceived benefits of wheeled solar panels as solar charging stations for the
students when grouped according to the profile of the respondents?
2. Is there a significant difference in the perceived benefits of wheeled solar panel as solar
charging stations for the students when grouped and compared according to the profile of the
respondents?
Hypothesis
There is no significant difference in the perceived benefits of wheeled solar panel as solar
charging stations for the students when grouped according to the profile of the respondents.
Key concepts for theoretical framework: environmental science, photovoltaic cell, solar
energy.
Theory by: Dr. Fred Chiou, Electronics Engineering Technology at Weber State University
The basic theory of the Solar Charging Station is to harvest the solar energy and convert it to
AC electricity that can be used to charge electric bikes and electric motorcycles. The Solar
Charging Stations utilise solar PV modules to convert solar energy to DC voltage. The DC
energy can be stored in a battery bank by a charge controller. An inverter is employed to
convert the DC voltage from the battery bank to 110 volt AC at 60 Hz frequency for charging
the electric vehicles. Two separate charging stations with different capacities are built in
order to efficiently monitor the system performance separately.
The most obvious advantage of using a solar power bank is that it is ecologically beneficial.
The potential to charge the power bank by putting it into a circuit implies users may save a
significant amount of power.
Our research is related to the previous research of Weber State University because it is
focused on starting using solar energy in order to save waste of electricity or to find a
solution to the increasing price of pollutants fuels.
This quantitative research paper delimits students and teachers of a private Catholic school.
Our study will not cover any problems that are unrelated to our research. Each discussion
partner will be given the same questionnaire to complete. The findings of this study will only
apply to the respondents and will not be used to estimate the population of anyone who does
not belong to this study. The questionnaire will be the source of data that the researchers will
prepare for this study.
Students - This study will be most significant to the students for stem
Faculty Teachers/Staff- This study allows the teachers to support the students to create and
to achieve their solar panel
Future Researchers - This findings of the study will provide significant that will help the
researchers and to find the results about the said study
Definition of Terms
Technology - application of knowledge to reach practical goals in a specifiable and
reproducible way. The word technology may also mean the product of such an endeavour.
Carbon - is a chemical element with the symbol C and atomic number 6. It is nonmetallic and
tetravalent—its atom making four electrons available to form covalent chemical bonds.
.Solar Panel - Solar energy begins with the sun. Solar panels (also known as "PV panels") are
used to convert light from the sun, which is composed of particles of energy called "photons",
into electricity that can be used to power electrical loads.
Batteries - is a source of electric power consisting of one or more electrochemical cells with
external connections for powering electrical devices.

METHODOLOGY
This chapter will present the research design used in this study, the respondents of the study,
the research instrument to be used to gather data, the validity and reliability of the instrument,
the data-gathering procedure, and the statistical tools used to analyse and interpret the data.
Research Locale
The study will be conducted at a Private catholic school in Bacolod City. The respondents
will be interviewed on the school campus grounds. The researchers also gathered additional
respondents within the school, this includes faculty members and school staff. The
researchers chose the school grounds because it will give the researchers the needed
information for their study. The study will be conducted in the first semester of the academic
year 2022-2023.
Data Gathering Instrument
The adopted modified instrument from the published work of"Electric Vehicle Charging
Survey"(n.d.)
https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/QTLXNQM will be used in the study
. The questionnaire will be divided into two (2) parts. The first part of the survey will be the
profile of the respondents, which directs the respondents to answer their details on age, sex,
civil status and income. The second part will be the survey about the main topic of this study.
The topic will be focusing on student’s perception . The instrument will have a four-point
Likert scale which will serve as the options for the answers of the respondents in the aspects
of the five dimensions reflecting tangibility, empathy, reliability, responsiveness, and
assurance The following will be the scale:
CODE DESCRIPTION INTERPRETATION
1 Agree High Level of satisfaction
3 Neutral undecided
2 Strongly Disagree Low Level of satisfaction
Reliability
The reliability and consistency of the study findings are referred to as reliability. Once the
survey responses provide a consistent outcome, the conclusion is regarded as reliable. How
much room for error there is in the results also reveals how trustworthy the research is.
(Heale) and
2015 (Twycross). The Cronbach's Alpha Method will be used by the researcher to gauge the
instrument's dependability It should receive a score of between 0.70 and 1.00.
The researchers dedicated time, work, and interaction to constructing the survey so as to fulfil
its own intended respondents. A questionnaire was created utilising appropriate questions
adapted from relevant studies and particular information developed by the researchers. This
survey was broken into three sections, each of which was connected to that same recipient's
opinion of maximising approaches and strategies.
Statistical Treatment
To effectively interpret the data, the researcher employed the following statistical treatment
with the help of a statistician:
Descriptive statistics, mean and standard deviation, will be used for the student's perceptions
of wheel solar panels in terms of tangibility, reliability, responsiveness, assurance, and
empathy when taken collectively and when grouped on age, sex, civil status, and income for
Objective 1. The following description will be used to interpret the data, which can be found
in the table below:
Interpretation Table for student’s Perception
Rating Scale Description Mean Score Range Interpretation
3 Agree 2.26-3.00 satisfied
2 Neutral 1.76-2.25 slightly satisfied
1 Disagree 1.00- 1.75 Neutral
For Objective 2, to test for the significant difference in the significant difference on the
student’s perception on wheeled solar panels in Bacolod . in terms of tangibility, reliability,
responsiveness, assurance, and empathy when grouped according to age, sex, civil status and
income, the data will first tested for normality test using Shapiro-Wilk test if the results
suggest a deviation from normality. When the result showed that it cannot assume normality
in the data set, non-parametric statistical test was utilized or Mann Whitney U- test for sex
and age variables and Krusskal Wallis for occupation variable.
