Reflection on

Participate in Workplace Communication

According to Amy C. Evans Communication is the act of sharing


and receiving information through a variety of media to various individuals.
Communication can be one-on-one or between groups of people through
verbal, non-verbal (Written, Sign Language and Sign Board).
Communication is the most important and has a vital role in establishing
relationship towards other people simply because we talk. We talk what
we want, need, don’t like and like. Good communication means good
understanding, if there is a good communication it means the message is
well delivered, well received and well understood so therefore good result
is expected.
Nevertheless, barriers of communication become a factors of
miscommunication. These are signals interception for media
communication, language, age gap, level of intelligence of a person, no
read no write (for written communication) and many others. It affects the
message itself and you cannot rely the content or the reliability of the
message anymore.
It is utmost importance to learn how to deliver or express messages
towards our recipient to make sure that we are understood from the other
side of the channel. Because sometimes even our family and closest
friends don’t understand what we mean by something and we cannot
expect them to always read between the lines or just guess what we really
want. That is why communication is very important, not just
communication but good communication.
Reflection on
Work in Team Environment

What is team? Team is made up of people with complementary


skills who have common goals. We cannot call a group of people a team if
they don’t work together to achieve their common goal and we call it
teamwork. Teamwork can be also considered as the backbone of a
successful company because if a person work independently he/she may
not ready to share knowledge to other people. But working in a team
means sharing responsibilities, sharing knowledge and it promotes good
working relationships. Working in a team environment open opportunity to
learn from others and it also gives a team member a feelings of
belongingness.

Roles and responsibilities of each team members should also be


cleared out to determine their scope and limitation in a team. The clearer
outlines the tasks, the better employees can achieve their team goal and
succeed in their roles at the company. To effectively manage a team, you
need to have a clear understanding of the roles people play as members
of the team.

Working in a team is not always easy as a walk in park, because


every individual has different characteristics and behaviors. Everyone
should adjust in a team and be cooperative at all times.

Practice Career Professionalism

Professionalism is a powerful quality. It allows you to fulfill your role

to the best of your ability. It helps you to impress and inspire others. And it

gives you a deep sense of satisfaction and self-worth. This is according to

an article of professionalism from mindtools.com. As the saying goes,

"Professionalism is not the job you do, it's how you do the job." Being

professional does not simply mean having a degree or attaining highest

educational level but it is about taking the job well done and treating

someone accordingly.

The title of being professional talks about the characteristic of a

person in a company or in a set. This characteristic involves respect,

punctuality, emotional quotient, confident, reliable, honest and many more.

This are just some of the many characteristics of being professional. I also

believe on a saying that goes “Not all professional (educated) is well-

mannered”.

Practice Occupational Health and Safety Procedures

Occupational Health and Safety is all about protecting the health

and safety of the workers. Every worker is legally protected under section

19(1) of the Worker Health and Safety Act 2011. Knowing the OHS

procedure of every companies help the worker to understand the

precaution and its risk. Workers should be well oriented of the building

design so that they know where to enter and exit in case of emergency.

Precaution and signs must be present to guide the hazardous areas of the

building.

Provide Effective Customer Service

When we hear the words customer service, the first thing that

comes up on our mind is customer satisfaction. This is also the goal of

every companies, store that offer services or selling any products.

Delivering customer satisfaction is in the hand of every customer service

representative. Customer service representative became the very first face

or the front liner of every companies that stand still nowadays.

Determining customer satisfaction means repeat order, customer

would line up just to get the service or the product. In this kind of job,

employee must possess a quality of being honest, respectful, loyal to their

company. Respectful is something that every customer representative

must have, not everyone holds the same status in life that is why we must

treat everyone with the same manner.
