In her article,” Impact of Covid-19 on peoples livelihoods, their health, and our food system” published

on October 13 2020 issue of World Health Organization, Kimberly Chriscaden presents Covid-19 early
experiences and challenges of a resource-limited country. She cites the novel coronavirus disease 2019
(COVID-19, caused by SArs-Cov-2) has spread globally since its first report in Wuhan China on December
31, 2019, as the main cause many people worry about their health. Based on this evidence, Chriscaden
concludes the universe is in danger of social disruption caused by the pandemic millions of people are at
risk of falling into extreme poverty.

Coronavirus disease is spreading globally which is not only a health problem but also affects the world
economy and the environment in many ways. Millions of people are at risk of falling into extreme
poverty, while the number of undernourished people currently estimated at nearly 690 million, could
increase by up to 132 million by the end of the year.Covid-19 is causing severe damage to economies
and societies millions of enterprises face an existential threat nearly half of the world’s 3.3 billion global
workforces are at risk of losing their livelihoods. Due to covid-19, governments have imposed
restrictions on the movement of people vehicles and suspended industrial activities. Border closures
trade restrictions and confinement measures have been preventing farmers from accessing markets
including for buying inputs and selling their produce and agricultural workers from harvesting crops thus
disrupting domestic and international food supply chains and reducing access to a healthy, safe, and
diverse diet. Now is the time for Global solidarity and support, especially with the most vulnerable in our
societies particularly in the emerging and developing world. We must rethink the future of our
environment and tackle climate change and environmental degradation with ambition and urgency.

The importance of Social Protection particularly during major humanitarian crises cannot be more
emphasized because of the covid-19 pandemic 1.6 billion workers in the informal economy which is
nearly half of the global workforce stand in immediate danger of losing their livelihoods 55% of the
world population are not covered by any form of social protection so the covid-19 have a devasting
impact particularly the most vulnerable. Countries with social protection policies enable the
governments in developing well-targeted context-specific measures during crises.

We have explored the issue by looking at both sides of the coin that is the impact of covid-19 on the
people’s livelihood and the impact environmental indicators on covid-19 we conclude that the covid-19
actions taken by governments across the world have led to significant reductions in environmental and
improvements in the environmental quality we have observe that environmental factors also
contributed to both the spread and reduction of Covid-19 transmission and mortality rates.
