15th August 2022

Dear Rev. Fr. Thomas
Schmollinger;, Dear Rev. Fr.
Thomas Gabula;,
Dear Rev. Sr. Anastasia Nakato; and
Dear Mr. Mike Lugemwa;

I salute you and I hope all is moving fairly enough. On 10 th August, as I got the results
see_page_3, I started thinking on how to thank you all for this because I was so happy when I
received these grades and was also told that I was the best student at the British Council Centre in
Kampala. Without any teacher, it was very challenging but my self-study challenges made me a
good researcher, a skill that will be very handy while at university and all this was possible because of
your efforts, hopefully by September, I’ll have finished writing this heartfelt thank you message that
can show to you or make you feel how grateful i am for this lifelong achievement because you all
have directly contributed to this Grand- Rising of Sylivester Mberenge.

It was all ignited while on a “wake-up” phone call, when Fr. Thomas Schmollinger and I shared
perspectives about the past and the future possibilities in Music, Business and Education.
Education came first priority and that’s when I rang you Fr. Thomas Gabula to further clear my
sense of direction in pursuing this journey and I thank you Fr. Thomas Schmollinger so much for
letting me start this journey with the first step of getting the Dell Notebook, you supported me even
before i knew what I was going to study, that was very inspiring. Thank you indeed. Please allow
me to thank you Fr. Thomas Gabula and my brother Mike for preparing me mentally for this
journey and also for recommending me whenever required especially in the first place of getting
the laptop, and with it, I was able to strengthen my perspective by writing the 10-year plan which
envisioned a bondage of Software development and Business studies as the future for me. I then pulled
my favorite subject “Accounting” which is in other words called “the numerical business” and has a
range of career paths like becoming an Accountant, Auditor, Tax man and more which are indeed
real backbones of/in every business. Therefore having Computer Science and Business
knowledge will make me an exceptional accountant or Auditor in the Market. Besides this, Computer
science is like a talent, Coding is developed slowly within, I have hopes that while working as an
accountant, I can have time, peace and space to write my software and hopefully bring some
billion dollar idea solutions to life.

I thank God and I am really happy to have chosen the Accounting, Business and Computer science
battles that I have been blessed of good results with. I would’ve chosen Biology, Chemistry and Physics
to become a doctor like I had chosen before or should’ve, but, the British Council doesn’t offer
practical subjects to private candidates, it was also intimidating and suicidal to self-study for these
sciences alone by myself and indeed, it was very challenging, I was not even sure all the time
whether I was learning the right things or the right way, too much pressure that’s why I thank
you my Brother Mike for giving me a chance to get tried through Mock exams at Kabojja
International School, this gave me more confidence. It’s in these mocks that I realized, I was
even learning much more than I was required to. So thank you Baaba, Thank you so much.
Back to the point of not choosing sciences, it was also expensive for me to join a school for high
school again because my aim was to do these Cambridge A levels (High school Diploma) at the
lowest cost possible. But things above a million shillings in Uganda are not considered low cost at
all, that’s why I would like to take this opportunity to thank you Fr. Thomas Schmollinger for paying
more that for the
Examinations, I kept my fingers crossed for the best grades as a return onto this investment.
With all due considered, I chose arts and one science subject which is “computer science” because one
of its practical exams was simply written on a paper, the other for May 2023 requires Centre
computers to be submitted, it’s a real software file e.g. a game or a solution to a problem. That’s
why I had dropped it and had registered for only two exams in November, later I was advised to
find a school to host me for these last exams such that I can be able to write full 3 exams in May-
June 2023 like the previous ones because I’ve passed all of them well and the whole package has
a great future together, that’s why I contacted Taibah International school, not to study from there,
but to simply allow me register and write my final exams in May 2023 from their center at the same
cost as the British council which they allowed and invited me around November to discuss the
issue more.

Let me please Thank you my lovely Sister, Sr. Nakato for being both a Sister and Mother, and other
sisters from Little sisters of St. Francis, for the support all through, you made sure I had what to
eat always, you bought a wireless internet router that I am still using until now, continued
together with you my brother Michael to pay for my monthly internet packages until today. I have
checked my data usage so far and it’s over 200GBs of internet used since purchase because I had
to download a lot of videos and sometimes I had to download more than 5 videos only to get one
useful one. Thank you so much and greetings to Sr. Juliet as well.

And then I had to ask for the Bosch Battery, bringing light to Kalokero, saved me so much time
because I would walk daily only to charge. Oh my God, I cannot forget how happy we were at
home to receive this battery. Thank you, Vielen Dank Fr. Thomas Schmollinger, thank you indeed.
However Uganda style things are that, unfortunately the Bosch battery is Kaputt now!!!. Since we
bought a second hand, I think it was may be very old! I liked it because it was of an original make
from Germany and online but seems it was nearly reaching the end of its useful life, only good
thing is that it worked until July 2022 when I was done with the exams, it’s the good results that
dried my tears of losing it, haha, Geld nicht fully auf dem boden. Also the notebook battery got
spoiled amidst exams but I thank you Mr. Mike Lugemwa for making sure I got a new one
immediately. How can I forget to thank you again for all the transport costs during this highly
inflated times of our economy.

Lastly, I thank my Mother and others at home, maybe Sr. Nakato you can help me deliver the
message, thanking her for providing a conducive atmosphere for me to home study, she made
sure I had food and on time all the time, she made sure all the 8 kids didn’t make a lot of noise for
me as I did my studying in the house since we don’t have a ceiling. They even sacrificed watching TV
sometimes for my sake, but most times it was a tag of war hahaha as they had to watch their
favorite shows, no matter what! I love them anyway.

Please note that I was able to get good results because you provided all that I needed for success, I
had and still have the best team! I promise nothing but to continue getting better, forward and
keep on evolving with the coming exams, all through university and finally in the working place.

My final decision is to pursue a Double Major Degree in Computer Science and Accounting, get ACCA
or CPA certified, Start working as an accountant while developing my coding (software
development) gradually and with that, allow me please to present to you these university options
see_page_4 which I hope to join from September 2023 -2026 after my final high school exams in May-
June 2023.
