CHAPTER 1

INTRODUCTION

1.1 Background

3
Environmental problems are issues that cannot be avoided. Currently, waste is a very
serious environmental problem faced by Indonesian society in general. It can be said that daily
waste is produced by housewives, both organic and inorganic waste. However, what is worrying
is that the waste produced is even disposed of in various places, and the effect will damage the
surrounding environment. The amount of waste production every year will increase along with
the increase in population.
The current government has tried in various ways to overcome the waste problem.
Especially the problem of inorganic waste. However, it has not yet reached the point of
perfection. This is because the amount of waste in Indonesia is very high. So that the
government is difficult to determine the right way to solve it.
This paper is prepared to provide an overview of the adverse effects of inorganic waste,
as well as how to solve it.
1.2 Problem Formulation
1. What is the meaning of waste and recycling?
2. How to make waste recycling?
3. What are the benefits of recycling waste?
4. What are the advantages and disadvantages of making recycled waste products?

1.3 The Purpose of The Problem

1. Know the meaning of waste.

2. Can find out how to make waste recycling.
3. Can find out the benefits of recycling waste.
4. Can find out the advantages and disadvantages of making recycled waste products.

CHAPTER II

DISCUSSION
2.1 Definition of trash

Garbage is a material that is wasted or disposed of from sources resulting from human
and natural activities that do not yet have economic value. Waste is unwanted residual material
after the end of a process. Waste is defined by humans according to the degree of use, in
natural processes there is actually no concept of waste, there are only products produced after
and during the natural process. However, because in human life the concept of the
environment is defined, waste can be divided according to its types

4
Every year the amount of waste in Indonesia in general always increases, along with the
increase in population and the use of materials that produce a lot of waste in excess.

2.2 The types of waste based on their nature

a. Organic trash.

Organic waste, namely waste that easily decomposes such as food scraps, vegetables, dry
leaves, and so on.

b. inorganic waste

Inorganic waste, namely waste that does not decompose easily, such as plastic food
packaging containers, paper, plastic toys, bottles and drinking glasses, cans, wood, and so on.

2.3 Definition of plastic waste recycling

Talking about waste, of course what we have in mind are the remnants of materials that
are no longer used, dirty and smelly and useless. However, such an assumption is not always
true, waste can also be used to become valuable and profitable goods by recycling.

Recycling plastic waste is a process to turn used materials into new materials with the
aim of preventing waste that can actually be something useful, reducing the use of new raw
materials, reducing energy use, reducing pollution, land damage, and gas emissions.
greenhouses when compared to the process of making new goods. Recycling is one of the solid
waste management strategies which consists of sorting, collecting, processing, distributing and
manufacturing used products / materials, and the main component in modern waste
management and the third part is the 3R waste hierarchy process (Reuse, Reduce, and Recycle).

Until now, plastic waste is waste that has not been known how to handle it. But now the
most appropriate way is to recycle the waste into a high-value product.

Recycling Process or Stages

The following are the stages of recycling activities that you can do:
5
1) Collect; namely looking for items that have been thrown away such as paper, mineral water
bottles, milk boxes, cans and others.

2) Sorting; namely grouping the collected waste by type, such as glass, paper, and plastic.

3) Reuse; After sorting, look for items that can still be reused directly. Clean it before use.

4) Send; Send the sorted waste to the recycling bin, or wait for itinerant second-hand collectors to
be happy to buy the item.

5) Do Your Own Recycling; If you have the time and skills why not do the recycling process yourself.
With creativity, various wastes that have been collected and sorted can be transformed into
useful new items.

CHAPTER III

CLOSING

A.Conclusion
Recycling is the process of turning used materials into new materials with the aim of
preventing waste that can actually be something useful, reducing the use of new raw
materials, reducing energy use, reducing pollution, land damage, and greenhouse gas
emissions when compared to the process of making new goods. Recycling is one of the solid
waste management strategies which consists of sorting, collecting, processing, distributing and
manufacturing used products / materials, and the main component in modern waste
management and the third part is the 3R waste hierarchy process (Reuse, Reduce, and
Recycle).

Materials that can be recycled consist of waste glass, plastic, paper, metal, textiles, and
electronic goods. Although similar, the composting process, which generally uses
biodegradable waste, is not categorized as a recycling process. Recycling is more focused on
waste that cannot be degraded naturally in order to reduce land damage. Broadly speaking,

6
recycling is the process of collecting, sorting, cleaning, and processing new materials for the
production process.

B. Suggestions
That's what the author can describe about the material that is the subject of this paper,
of course there are still many shortcomings and weaknesses, therefore the author hopes that
readers will provide constructive criticism and suggestions for the perfection of this paper.
