The area where I live is not far from First Farmers (sugar producing corp.

) This
produces air pollution that harms the atmosphere and one of it that we experience is air
pollution. It release gases which raises the temperature of the planet, this is called
global warming. This can result extinction of some animal species and extreme
occurrences of natural disasters. Although it provides work and consolation for our
future, this brings suffering for the environment. Moreover, this also associates with
improper waste disposal. The factory, as well as the people living in the area
accumulate tons of mishandled wastes, leaving our community with clogged waterways
and frequent flash floods. Thus, rivers here also became their trash bins which in return
reducing our source of free and clean water (water pollution) Though we can make use
of landfills to avoid such problems, it can possibly cause irrevocable effects. Waste such
as plastics and electronics degrades very slowly and these chemical containing wastes
emits methane, ammonia, mercury, and lead. These wastes will seep through and
pollute the soil (soil pollution) that might result in unusable lands.
Additionally, as I am living in a rural area there are a couple of forests located
here. But few of which were intentionally cut down to clear land for subdivisions and
agricultural purposes. Others make businesses out of it too, like wood products and coal
fuels. And this purposeful chopping of trees is called deforestation. Even though it’s not
as big as the Amazon rainforest, it can still affect the environment. As we all know, trees
absorb carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, and this carbon is stored in woods. When
trees are burned carbon is released into the atmosphere as carbon dioxide. If there’ll be
fewer trees, greenhouse gas will gradually build up, hastening the effects of climate
change.
As a student, I think the best way to somehow help solve these budding problem
is to live a greener lifestyle. By simply putting your garbage properly is one way to start
this lifestyle. Likewise, I’ll limit my use of plastic, especially the disposable and single-
used items and start investing in reusable goods. Also, I’ll try to take part in clean-up
drives and planting activities. Join groups that aim to protect and preserve our forests.
And I will stop throwing trash into the rivers or ocean, rivers. And I’ll support recycled
and eco-friendly products to lessen the waste. In this way, I can be a part of the
solution, creating a sustainable and healthier earth.
