EPISODE 1 – DOMAIN 7: PERSONAL GROWTH AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT


Domain 7 focuses on teacher’s personal growth and professional development. It accentuates teacher’s
proper and high personal regard for the profession by maintaining qualities that upholds the dignity of
teaching such as caring attitude, respect and integrity. This Domain values personal and professional
reflection and learning to improve practice. It recognizes the importance of teachers’ assuming
responsibility for personal growth and professional development for lifelong learning.

GENERAL INSTRUCTION: Below are the guide questions you must consider answering to be able to
come up with a directed and wholistic reflection about the week’s domain focus. See to it that you
answer it comprehensively but concisely (as prescribed). For the reflection part (WHAT YOU THINK), you
may expound your thoughts as much as you desire (but should be in reasonable length). Further, it is
best to cite literature to support or negate your thoughts, deductions or ideas.

PART 1: WHAT YOU KNOW: These are “before FS1” questions. These questions intend to focus your
attention to your prior knowledge about the PPST domains. This prior knowledge may come from your
personal dispositions, what you have learned from your prof ed courses and major courses. Answer as
honest as you can because this part is where you will start assessing the progress of your development
along the PPST Domains.

questions pertain to your observation of events or situations that are happening as you are conducting
your observation. Answer them according to your actual observations because this area will give you a
ground on what thoughts you will be expounding in your reflection.

PART 3: WHAT YOU HEAR: This part requires an interview with your Cooperating Teacher. The interview
should be set with the Cooperating Teacher ahead of time which should be attended by everybody in the
group (all those assigned under the Cooperating Teacher). While the interview is done by group,
documenting the response of the Cooperating Teacher as well as answering this part is done individually.
This part gives you a glimpse on how realistic the essence of the PPST Domains is as proven by your
Cooperating Teacher’s experiences.
N.B. The length you your answers here depend upon the responses of your Cooperating Teacher. Note however that there are no 1-
sentence answers, thus learn to elaborate.
