EPISODE 2 – DOMAIN 2: LEARNING ENVIRONMENT


Domain 2 highlights the role of teachers to provide learning environments that are safe, secure, fair and supportive in order to
promote learner responsibility and achievement. This domain centers on creating an environment that is learning-focused and in
which teachers efficiently manage learner behavior in a physical and virtual space. It highlights the need for teachers to utilize a
range of resources and provide intellectually challenging and stimulating activities to encourage classroom interactions geared
towards the attainment of high standards of learning.

GENERAL INSTRUCTION: Below are the guide questions you must consider answering to be able to come up with a directed
and wholistic reflection about the week’s domain focus. See to it that you answer it comprehensively but concisely (as prescribed).
For the reflection part (WHAT YOU LEARNED), you may expound your thoughts as much as you desire (but should be in
reasonable length). Further, it is best to cite literature to support or negate your thoughts, deductions or ideas.

PART 1: WHAT YOU KNOW: These are “before FS1” questions. These questions intend to focus your attention to your prior
knowledge about the PPST domains. This prior knowledge may come from your personal dispositions, what you have learned from
your prof ed courses and major courses. Answer as honest as you can because this part is where you will start assessing the progress
of your development along the PPST Domains.

events or situations that are happening as you are conducting your observation. Answer them according to your actual observations
because this area will give you a ground on what thoughts you will be expounding in your reflection.
N.B. For this, domain, you may facilitate the completion of this part as a group (going about around the community, school and classroom)
however, individually write down your answers in your reflection notebook.

PART 3: WHAT YOU HEAR: This part requires an interview with some of the school’s stakeholders. The interview should be
set with them ahead of time which should be attended by everybody in the group. While the interview is done by group,
documenting the response of the Cooperating Teacher as well as answering this part is done individually. This part gives you a
glimpse on how realistic the essence of the PPST Domains is as proven by your Cooperating Teacher’s experiences.
N.B. The length of your answers here depends upon the responses of your respondents. Note however that there are no 1-sentence
answers, thus learn to elaborate.

1. Ask the school head of the policies of the University or ELS which are implemented to ensure the safety and
security of the learners. Write down at least 3 (three) of these policies.
N.B. Section representatives may do this to avoid over-crowding and disturbing the school head.

time of the pupils. The interview is done in a casual conversational manner. Do not stress the pupils, do not force them to answer.
Let your CT know that you are conducting this interview with a particular pupil on a particular time.

that the PTCA can do to be able to resolve these concerns.
N.B. Ask your CT to connect you with a parent who is willing to be interviewed for this matter. This can be done by the whole team
assigned at the grade level, but only 3 people may ask questions. Do this during the convenient time of the parent with the
supervision of the CT. Answers of the parent must be documented individually thus answers to this activity must be written
individually too. The Filipino question below is the question you may ask the parent to be able to derive concrete
answers for the indicated task.

PART 4: WHAT YOU LEARNED: This is the “reflection part”. The intention of this part is to make you consciously realize
your path of becoming a professional teacher. As such, when you answer this part, look back at the answers you have given in the
previous parts of the worksheet. There will be instances that what you have written in part 1 may be modified when asked again in
part 4. This is understood because part 2 and 3 may have influenced your reflections. For purposes of justification, corroborate your
