1. Why I have I chosen this topic?

- I have a personal connection towards the topic as I am a pianist and

have been practicing the piano ever since I was a child. I was inspired
by different artists who used music as a key element in their pieces and
I think that this helps represent essential parts of my topic, ‘the practice
of music’ at hand.
2. What do I want to show the examiner within this topic?
- I want to show that music can come hand in hand with art and nits
practice is very fulfilling and can be depicted in a very open manner
through different elements and materials. I was to showcase my
different skills whether it is my artistic abilities such as painting and
photography to my other skills that play key importance such as
recording and analyzing information in order to create a final piece
through the development of my ideas overtime,
3. What am I going to do to progress this topic?
- I will use primary pictures based on different angles along with a variety
of materials as well as use the elements and principles of art to depict
my ideas as well as do artworks according to the marking criteria. I
have tried to do this so far with my pieces using research and my day
to day life to resolve any problems that might come my way
4. Which artist am I going to connect to and why have I shortlisted these
artists and no other artists?
- Keith Mallett, Gaby Diaz Ortiz, Kim Douglas Wiggins and Hanne Lore
Koehler are some of my key inspirations as use techniques like no
other that relate to music as well as amplify my pieces through
symbolism, techniques and subjects whereas other artists do not relate
to my topic as much and the ideas I am trying to portray as much. Keith
Mallett is my subject based artist as most of his artworks consist of
instruments and its practice, he uses rich colours such are hues of
browns and blues to depict the traditional and naturalistic view it
consists of. Gaby Diaz Ortiz on the other hand, is my technique-based
artist. She uses bright pinks and blue in her portraits which I think
brings emphasis onto certain aspects of my pieces. Hanne Lore
Koehler is also another technique-based artist who uses darker tones
and hues. Finally Kim Douglas Wiggins is my symbolism based artist.
5. What kind of materials and media processes best convey my idea and
why?
- acrylic painting and acrylic pouring (how thick and the flow of the paint
just like the melodies made)
- charcoals (the intensity of the practice)
- pencil shading (the depth and details of music)
- water colours (how like water and colours it fades overtimes and when
repeated it gets brighter just like how when practicing the piece it
sounds better than before)
- wood carving (what instruments are made of)
- resin art (the fragility of music although strong due to clarity)
- inks (used to write music)
6. What kind of final outcome am I got to achieve through this process
