Preparation 1. Rote counting from 0 to 40
5 minutes Show a number card from 0 to 40.. Tell what number it represents .
How many sets of ten straws did we have yesterday? ( 4 sets of ten straws each)
Show four sets of ten straws each.
(Ask)How many straws do you have in all?(There are 40 straws in all.)

2. Bring out the materials. Today, we will continue counting, reading and writing
numbers
from 41 to 70.

Presentation 1. Present to them the same procedure used in the previous lesson in (DLP #3)
20 minutes
2. Repeat the procedure until numbers 50.
(Ask) How many straws are there in all? (There are 50 straws in all.)
How many loose straws are there? (There are 10 loose straws.)
So what can we do with the loose straws? (We can form another set of 10 straws.)
How many sets of 10 straws each do we have now? (We have now 5 sets of 10
straws each.)
(Say) When we have 5 sets of 10 straws each , there are 50 straws in all.
Emphasize the name “fifty”for the number 50. Write 50 below 40. Ask the pupils
to read it. Then ask them to read the numbers from 41 to 50 written on the board.
Repeat the procedure until 59 then introduce 60 in similar way.
Emphasize the name “sixty” for the number 60. Write 60 below 50.
Repeat the procedure until 69 then introduce 70 in similar way.
Emphasize the name “seventy” for the number 70.
Write 70 below 60. Ask the pupils to read it.
Then ask them to read the numbers from 61 to 70 written on the board.

Practice Group the pupils into three. Each member of the group will write the number on the board
10 minutes consecutively from 41 to 70. The first group to finish, wins the game.
