Heavy rains and a combination of riverine, urban and flash flooding have led
to an unprecedented climate-induced disaster in Pakistan since June 2022,
causing widespread fatalities, killing livestock, and damaging and destroying
public and private infrastructure across the country. Large parts of Sindh
remain inundated, as well as some areas in other provinces.

2022 FLOODS RESPONSE PLAN SITUATION OVERVIEW
PAKISTAN
The plan focuses on the provision of health and water and sanitation services, aiming
to prevent, mitigate and respond to potential new outbreaks of water- and vector-borne
diseases and respiratory illnesses arising from the widespread standing floodwaters
and reduced access to safe and clean water.
Food security and nutrition are a further priority, as large-scale loss of livestock, crops,
livelihoods and income as well as damage to critical transport infrastructure
