Lineage Of Prophet Ibrahim

Ibrahim (A.S.) is a prophet who is put to the test by Allah; in spite of enormous
hardships, Ibrahim (A.S.) was portrayed as a servant who kept his word and
consistently displayed a respectable attitude. Prophet Ibrahim is an amazing
example and role model for all people. Allah declares in the Qur'an:

“And of Ibrahim (Abraham) who fulfilled (or conveyed) all that (what Allah
ordered him to do or convey)” [Surah-An-Najam 53:37]

Ibrahim, also known as Abraham, was given the title ‘ ‫’خليل هللا‬, which means ‘the
friend of Allah’. Ibrahim (A.S.) was the forefather of many great Prophets and is
held in high esteem by all the major religions i-e Judaism, Christianity, and
Islam.

Prophet Ibrahim (AS) was born in modern-day Babylon, Iraq, to a well-known

idol craftsman. Prophet Ibrahim (AS) was raised in an idolatrous home and saw
his father carve idols out of stone and wood as a young boy. People either
worshiped the moon, sun, and planets or idols made of wood and stone.
However, amazingly, at a very young age, Allah SWT bestowed spiritual insight
and wisdom upon Prophet Ibrahim (AS). Because of this, Prophet Ibrahim (AS)
began to doubt everything he saw. Despite his father's best efforts to reassure him
of their faith, Prophet Ibrahim (AS) was never truly comfortable or satisfied.

Prophet Abraham is the only prophet to have two sons who were also prophets.
And these two sons of Abraham, Prophet Ishmael and Prophet Isaac, are the only
two Prophets who each had a descendant many many centuries later. Israel
means "Abdullah" which means 'The Servant of God'. It is the title of Hazrat
Yaqoob (Jacob) which was granted him by Allah. He was the son of Hazrat Isaac
and the grandson of Hazrat Ibrahim (A.S). His generation is known as 'Bani
Isra'il'.

There are two prominent descendants from the family tree of Hazrat Israel. One
was the bloodline of Hazrat Ismail who dwelled in Arab. Second is from the
ancestry of Hazrat Issac, from which Hazrat Yaqoob (A.S), Hazrat Yousuf, Hazrat
Mosa (A.S), Hazrat Dawood (A.S), Hazrat Suleman (A.S), Hazrat Yahya (A.S) and
many other Prophets belong. Hazrat Israel is the title given to Hazrat Yaqoob
(A.S), that's why his generation is famous by the name 'Bani Isra'il'.
People from Bani Isra'il lived in Palestine after leaving Nassar. Along with Bani
Isra'il, Hazrat Mosa traveled to Mount Sinai, where he spent more than a year
receiving numerous commands from God. The order was then given to Hazrat
Mosa (A.S.) to take Bani Isra'il and advance toward Palestine in order to capture
it. When Bani Isra'il declined to travel to Palestine as Hazrat Mosa had done,
Allah forced them to live in squalor for 40 years. When these 40 years were about
to come to an end, Hazrat Haroon (A.S) passed away on Mount Hoor. On the hill
of Abarim, Hazrat Mosa (A.S.) breathed his final breath.

Ishmael is recognized by Muslims as the ancestor of several northern prominent

Arab tribes and the forefather of Adnan, the ancestor of Muhammad. Muslims
also believe that Muhammad was the descendant of Ishmael who would establish
a great nation.
