National Days around the World
What happens on national days in different
countries?
6th February
There aren’t any big political celebrations on New
Zealand’s national day. There are concerts and
music festivals to celebrate peace and love. A lot of
people go to the beach with their families.
1st August
This is Switzerland’s national day. People light fires
and have barbecues with friends and family. There
are a lot of fireworks in the evening.
9th August
Every year on this date the Prime Minister of
Singapore speaks to the nation on TV. There is a
national day parade in the city streets, and in the
evening there are big displays of fireworks.
7th September
There are military parades and concerts on this date
in Brazil. People walk in the streets with flags and
balloons. In the evening there are fireworks.
12th October
This is Spain’s national day. It is a public holiday,
but there aren’t usually any big celebrations.
18th November
Oman. People dance and there are events like camel
racing.
