d. Objective/s:

This proposal aims to lessen the pupils – at – risk in reading and improve reading and
comprehension skills to mollify the reading proficiency level of learning among the pupils of
Daguit Elementary School.

The presence of pupils – at - risk and slow
readers are really evident in school despite of the
different strategies and techniques in reading and Schools Division Office

Daguit Elementary School
Reading Enhancement Ability Project is a
project to provide pupils’ needs for reading
remediation/interventions. The result of PHIL-IRI
served as the baseline to identify the reading d. Target Beneficiaries/Participants:
levels of pupils and will serve as basis to what kind
of remediation shall be done so that every child is
a reader by the end of this project. Out of pupils 41 students
from Grades 3 to 6, 18 are non - readers in Filipino
and 23 in English.
The implementation of this project is
deemed necessary to strengthen the program to

let the pupils at risk read and to enhance the
reading abilities of the pupils.
This project will be facilitated by Jocelyn G.
Naesa, the adviser/teacher of Grade 4.. Reading
Intervention program will start on February 5,
2020 to March 30, 2020 from 9:00 AM to 11:00
AM and 2:00 to 4:00 p.m at the designated room
for reading in Daguit Elementary School. The
pupils at risk will be grouped by grade level. Each
group will have 1hr session every day. The
remaining group will stay on their respective
subject teachers to continue their lesson.
The pupils will be provided with varied
learning activities and materials that will be
utilized depending on their needs.
Learning outcomes will be assessed every
meeting. The progress of the activity will be
monitored by the school head.
The following are the activities to be
conducted for the successful implementation of
the reading intervention workshop:

There was a sharing of Teachers Experiences and the Best Practices
in the implementation of the LCP facilitated by Sir Medel A. DeVera.

-Main Topic : DepEd Order No. 31, s 2020 ( Interim Policy Guidelines for
Assessment and Grading in Light of the Basic Education Learning
Continuity Plan) the content of this DepEd order were clearly and
concisely explained by Mam Jhonalyn J. Cayrel and Mam Roselie B.
Epia. There were brainstorming of teachers on the grading system
and in the tools of assessment.

A workshop was conducted on the preparation of grading sheets


by subject area and by grade level.

Then a presentation of output in each grade level followed.

Grades 4 – 6 Mathematics this was comprehensively discussed by Mam
Louela Mae E. Austria from Palali E/S. She tackled on the following:
-Bridging Mathematics
-Alignment of Curriculum Instructions and Assessment
-The Art of Questioning
-The Probing Techniques
- Questions to Avoid
-Polya’s Problem Solving Steps: Understand, Plan, Do, Check, Look Back

Topic No 2: Explicit Teaching in Teaching Reading Comprehension discussed and modelled


by Mam Jocelyn G. Naesa. She tackled on the following:
-What is Explicit Teaching
-The relationship of Explicit Teaching and Whole Language Approach
-Project DEAR
-Phases of Reading
-The Use of Thinking Stems to stimulate Reading Comprehension

Topic No 3: Modelling of Inquiry – Based Teaching (IBL) and 5 E’s, this topic was delivered
by Mam Lilibeth C. Ogayon, she presented a Self Learning Module and

discussed her topic step by step.
-5 E’s parts of the Modules
Engage, Explore, Explain, Elaborate and Evaluate
-Cited an example on each parts referring to the modules.

Some of the topic were compressed due to the scheduled power interruption on the sixth
day.

Grade 4 -6 Filipino facilitated by Mam Francia Obusan and Mam Jeanne
Pauline Acula. They divided the topics between them.
-Video presentation on the different strategies and techniques
-Insights from the teachers

Topic No 2: Revisit the Guidelines on the Preparation of Parallel Tests, Summative Tests,
and Weekly Home Learning Plan this was discussed by Mam Olivia N.
Villaflores and mam Maria Elsie J. Dela Torre. They explained briefly the
guidelines on the preparation of the tests and the how to make a table of
Specifications. They presented a WHLP and give the function and use of
each part.

There was a workshop on the topic presented, and the participants actively
shared their outputs.
