I. Information Needs

Since December 2019, there has currently been no evidence of an end to the current
COVID-19 outbreak, which is still quite concerning. Every day, new confirmed positive cases
emerge, affecting the world's most prestigious countries, including China, Italy, Spain, the
United States, India, and Russia.

By the new rules and regulations given by WHO vigorous sanitization and regular
monitoring is needed to prevent the spread of the pandemic to the masses. Due to the situation
worldwide, sanitization commodities installed in each and every corner of the sphere, is it an
industry, a corporate office, an educational institute or a shopping mall. This study proposed a
design of an automatic hand sanitizer and temperature sensing system, to keep the hand sanitized
whenever a person wants to do it, without a contact with the sanitizing machine. The temperature
sensor on touching gives the body temperature of the person.

II. General objective

The main objective of this study is to design an automatic hand sanitizer with temperature
sensing system as it is very much in demand since the coronavirus broke out and spread around
the world.

III. Potential Impact

The development of automated hand sanitizers with temperature sensing has been hailed
as a significant step toward reducing the likelihood of cross contamination and contagious
diseases because it makes intuitive sense to believe that the fewer times a potentially
contaminated surface is touched, the better.
IV. Specific objective(s)

1. To design an automatic hand sanitizer with temperature sensing for easy installation of
the hardware in any location across the globe.
2. To calculate few parameters that is included in the design.
3. To ensure proper safety measure to overcome any kind of fault in consideration of over-
voltage, short circuit, excessive current flow etc.

V. Research questions
1. Does designing an automatic hand sanitizer with a temperature sensing system help to
reduce or minimize direct contact in preventing the transmission of COVID-19?
2. Is the automated hand sanitizing device proposed in this research both economical and
environmentally friendly?
3. What are the components that are needed in supporting the design of this automatic hand
sanitizer?
4. What are the few parameters to be calculated and taken as a priority in the designing of
automatic hand sanitizer?

VII. Additional information you would have liked or needed to better define the

scope of the research

After being constructed in software, the device circuit is then simulated. Power

distribution to each module might be a challenge when designing the hardware in prototype

form. In order to solve the issue, relays must be inserted to operate the spray pumps or

submersible pumps, ensuring that the sensors, lcd, and other tiny modules receive enough power

from the Arduino microcontroller's built-in 5 V and 3.3 V interfaces. It may be produced for a

very low cost in any home and installed everywhere, including workplaces, educational facilities,

public transportation, typical retail establishments, etc.
