teacher (via email and at a check-in meeting) teacher (via email and at a check-in meeting)

 During independent work, students can talk in their preferred language so long as they’re contributing to class in English and doing their work, asks
students to paraphrase instructions for a better understanding, and ask questions during independent work about different students’ work for them to
share their thinking and ideas.
 Asking questions about the schedule to students to double check how clear the instructions were/how much the students’ listened, lists the skills
they’re working on in each task (responsibility etc.), students are welcome to use translators or ask a friend how to say something in English if they
don’t know a word, connecting types of writing to others (camp greenwood experience post is similar to CER or narrative), practice skills that can be
used during other subjects (reading informational text, writing narratives, writing CERs, determining numbers in text), use voice cues like “waterfall”
(shoo) so then people will make the sound, then stop and listen,
 Repeats questions a couple of times to make sure they’re clear and heard, asks students to repeat instructions to check active listening so students also
know what they’re doing (keeping it clear) (ex. Asking students to complete the tripod survey: complete the survey with a level 0 talking voice (no
talking), close your computer and then grab a whiteboard marker. When the last computer is closed, we will begin the next activity. Raise your hand
if you have a question, and we will move to the next activity when the last computer is closed), Ms Peak and Ms Suzy give demonstrations on how to
use a sentence pattern or figurative language if they’re learning something new, reminds class of English usage rather than Chinese or Korean usage
during group work

To include on the introduction PPT: name, family, pets / classes I take and hobbies I have / places I’ve lived, how long in BJ / favourite subject, food, etc. /
