General instructions on typical use
▪ The depictions and the description of the procedure
set out below are based on use for rectangular tun-
nel cross-sections, but they also apply by analogy to
use for circular tunnel cross-sections.
▪ Sections that apply only to circular tunnel cross-sec-
tions are marked appropriately.
▪ Depending on the project, the actual construction
and the procedure might not be as set out in the
description in this document.
▪ Always proceed in accordance with the execution
drawing or assembly drawing, or consult your Doka
technician.

WARNING
Danger of crushing!
➤ Before all formwork closing/opening
motions, and before the tunnel formwork
traveller is repositioned, a check must be
performed by at least 2 people to ensure that
there are no persons or potential collision
points within the range of motion.
➤ The operators must maintain sight or radio
contact to the trained watchmen at all times.
➤ 'Passenger transportation' is forbidden! (with
the exception of the operator during hydrau-
lic repositioning).

☞▪ Important note:
The first time of putting into service of the
hydraulic system must be supervised by a
Doka supervisor or other authorised techni-
cian.
▪ During closing, stripping and repositioning of
the formwork, the only persons allowed in
the vicinity of the traveller are the trained per-
sonnel tasked with carrying out the reposi-
tioning operation.

As regards fixing form ties and connecting form-

work panels and for information on cleaning and
the use of release agents, depending on which
formwork system is in use follow the directions
set out in the 'Large-area formwork Top 50' or
'Large-area formwork Top 100 tec' User Infor-
mation booklets!

General remarks
Hydraulic system
Hydraulic unit SL-1 V180 Hydraulic forming-operations

Is supplied to the site ready for operation. The Hydraulic unit SL-1 V180 is also used for raising,
lowering and stripping out Doka formwork systems with
the aid of hydraulic cylinders.
Note:
If the unit needs to be lifted, it should only be slung Note:
from, and lifted by, the crane hoisting lugs provided.
The European Directive for Machines (2006/42/EC)
stipulates that all formwork systems that are moved
either electrically or hydraulically are subject to manda-
tory CE labelling requirements. For this reason, a risk
assessment and an Operating Instructions manual
must be drawn up for the entire system, in every case.

The formwork is moved by means of a hydraulic

branch-line system.
▪ The hydraulic unit has 6 hydraulic outlets.
These assure the same constant delivery rates,
regardless of the load pressure.
▪ In practice, 6 cylinders are often not sufficient.
It is possible to increase the number of cylinders by
using the Hydraulic distributor, Art.n° 580808000.
This divides up the 6 hydraulic circuits A-F into 3
groups of 6 hydraulic circuits (makes it possible to
connect up to 18 cylinders).

Mounting the hydraulic system

Hydraulic unit

☞▪ Important note:
The position of the hydraulic unit will mainly
depend on the available space, and should
thus be planned as needed for each individ-
ual project.
▪ Position the hydraulic unit so that the opera-
tor is always looking in the direction of travel
and has a clear view of all moving parts! If
this is not possible, a 2nd person is needed,
who must stay in radio contact with the oper-
ator.

Hydraulic cylinder

☞ Important note:
The size and position of the hydraulic cylinders
must be such that no collisions can occur when
slewing motions are carried out.

Hydraulic hoses

☞ Important note:
➤ Do not kink the hoses.
➤ Arrange the hoses so that nothing rubs
against them during the motion sequences.
(Risk of hoses bursting because of mechan-
ical damage).
➤ In the area near the hydraulic cylinders,
arrange the hoses so that there is sufficient
length of hose available even when the cylin-
der is fully extended (make loops).
➤ Arrange the hydraulic hoses on the tunnel formwork
traveller and fasten them with hose clamps and/or
cable ties.
