Installation of Prinect Package Designer 2016 Illus-

trator Plugin
You can install the Prinect Package Designer 2016 Illustrator Plugin software from your DVD-ROM
drive or from a shared network drive.

Note: You need administrator privileges for the computer you want to install Prinect
Package Designer 2016 Illustrator Plugin on.

General notes on operation:

• "Back" button: This lets you go back one step in the installation to verify or edit settings.

• "Cancel" button: This lets you terminate the installation.

1. Insert the DVD-ROM to start the Prinect Package Designer 2016 Illustrator Plugin installation.
2. Choose the language you want for installation. The default is the current operating system lan-
guage.
3. Click "Next".
4. This will open a window with the end user license agreements. Click "Yes" to accept the license
agreement.
5. The window for selecting the Package Designer configuration displays:

6. Select the „Illustrator Connect“ configuration.

Note: You need a license key for the „Adobe Illustrator Plugin“ option to be able to use the
plug-in.

7. Another language dialog appears where you can choose the default language of the user inter-
face and the default unit of measurement.

8. Click "Next".

9. The dialog for setting the destination paths opens. To change the default paths, click the
"Browse..." button and select a path you want.
10. Click "Next".

11. In the next window, choose the application file types (by way of the file extension) that will start
the „Illustrator Connect“ plug-in automatically in the future.

12. Click "Next".

13. Choose the folder for backing up setup data.

14. Click "Next".

15. Enable the "Create desktop icons" option to generate a start icon on your desktop and click
"Finish" to complete installation.
16. To operate the „Illustrator Connect“ plug-in you need licensing data via the Heidelberg Prinect
License Server. If there is no License Server in your system so far, you must install it locally now. 
See "Installation Prinect License Server", page 10.
17. After installation, the plug-in is available in the Adobe Illustrator.

Installation Prinect License Server

1. Go to the supplied DVD and start Prinect License Server installation by double clicking the
"LicensingSetup.exe" file. 

Select the language you want and click "OK".

2. Click "Yes" to accept the license agreement.

3. Choose the destination path and click "Next".

Note: In this window you can choose whether to install the License Server and the License
Manager together with the Sentinel driver or, when you deselect License Server, License
Manager or Sentinel driver separately each.
Choose License Server and License Manager with the Sentinel driver when you install the
License Server on a central server in your network or when you want to run License Server
on a workstation without network functions only (stand alone License Server).
4. Click "Next".

5. Choose the user account path and click "Next".

6. Check your settings and click "Next" to start copying.

Note: You will not see the following two windows (remove/plug in dongle) when you install
the License Manager only.

7. Remove all USB dongles and click "OK".

8. When copying has finished, plug the USB dongle back in and click "OK".

9. Click "Finish".
Now perform licensing in License Manager (see the next headline "Licensing Procedure").

Note: For more information on licensing please refer to the "Heidelberg Prinect Licensing,
Operation" manual.

Licensing Procedure
Prerequisites:
• The License Server has been installed. The Prinect Licensing dongle is fitted on this computer.

• The License Manager is to run on the same computer as Prinect Package Designer 2016 Illust-
rator Plugin.

For further information on how to perform licensing, please see the “Heidelberg Prinect Licensing,
Operation” manual.
1. Start the License Manager. It is imperative that you start the License Manager after installation
of Prinect Package Designer 2016 Illustrator Plugin.
You can now enter your license data in the License Manager.
2. Then start Prinect Package Designer 2016 Illustrator Plugin.

Modifying, Repairing, and Uninstalling

Read this chapter when you have completed the initial installation and start the installation again.
This can be the case if you, for example, wish to modify the existing installation.
1. Initial installation has been completed.
2. Quit Prinect Package Designer 2016 Illustrator Plugin.
3. Click "Start > Programs > Heidelberg Prinect Package Designer 2016 Illustrator Plugin > Maintain

4. Choose the desired option.

• "Modify" option: When you choose "Modify", you can decide which features you want to change
during installation or whether you want to install additional features.

The following steps are similar or identical to those of an initial installation.

• "Repair" option: 
Choosing the “Repair” option will cause all installed programs to be installed again. This will eli-
minate any errors that may have occurred during initial installation.

• "Remove" option: 
Choosing the “Remove” option will delete the Prinect Package Designer 2016 Illustrator Plugin
program.

Note: Note: You must always trigger uninstallation of the License Server manually separa-
