Dia de los Muertos or ‘Day of the Dead’ is a

It takes place on 1st and 2nd November every year.
People believe that on this day, the 2)  ____________

dress up, hold parties and also prepare an ofrenda - a
special table for the dead. On the ofrenda, they put

• 1/4 cup meringue • royal icing in different

Sugar skulls are a type of decoration that people
put on their ofrenda to remember a person who died.
Some people also give them to others as a special gift.

A Then, use a little royal icing to stick the two dried halves of
the sugar skull together.
B First, mix the sugar and meringue powder with water.
C After the sugar mixture is dry, remove it from the two
moulds carefully.
D Then, press the white sugar mixture into the two halves of
the skull mould.
E Finally, decorate your sugar skulls with royal icing, foil and
glitter. You can add a name, too.
