Q2 Activity 2 - The Last Spin

Answer the following questions:

1. Aside from their jackets, there is little description of Danny and Tigo. How do
you imagine these two to look like in your minds-eye as you read the story?
- "Danny looked at the gun disinterestedly." He was nervous and apprehensive, but he kept
tight control of his face. He could not show Tigo what he was feeling. For me, this means that
Danny is frightened and nervous about the game because he wants to be courageous looking at
Tigo’s point of view. Meanwhile, "Tigo" was studying him with large brown eyes. The eyes were
moist-looking. He was not a bad-looking kid, Tigo, with thick black hair and a nose that was too
long, but his mouth and chin were good. You can usually tell a cat by his mouth and his chin.
Tigo would not turkey out of this particular rumble. "' It shows that Tigo was calmed towards
the ideology of the game and was not nervous about playing it for his club. It also states here
that he is a good-looking guy.
2. What about the ending of the story, what do you think would have been a better
ending?
In my opinion, it would have been a better ending if Danny had persuaded Tigo to do the last
spin and explain to their respective clubs what happened. In that case, Tigo would still go out by
the plan they were talking about once they were done playing the game.
3. What is/are the moment/s in the story where Danny and Tigo’s relationship changes for
the better?

It was during the game that they came to know about each other. They found that they had
many common thoughts and qualities that were common to them. Both of them wanted to end
the conflict and start a friendship, but the thought of being a member of the rival gang didn't
allow them to stand together.
4. Why do the boys even change the rules making it more dangerous although they are afraid
to go on with the game?
They made that game to settle the misunderstanding between their respective gangs. In their
play, no one gets a bullet, because as the event is repeated and the longer it lasts, they increase
the bullet to increase the opportunity to be selected. The bulletproof cartridge and after that,
they do.
5. Compare the relationship between the boys at the beginning of the story to how they feel
about each other at the end?
They start out as rival gang members, knowing that the other one is their enemy, but as time
goes on, as they get to know each other, and realize their similarities, they become friends, and
the perception between them changes.
6. Why do you think Danny and Tigo join gangs?
Danny and Tigo joined gangs since they were raised on the neighborhood and grew up with
them. Also, Danny’s mother didn’t enroll him in an army, so he instead joined gangs clubs. As
for Tigo, for me, he joined gang clubs only because of an influence.
7. How do Danny and Tigo start to discover what they have in common?
While playing the Russian roulette game, Danny and Tigo start to discover what they have in
common through talking and sharing things with each other. Their thoughts and loyalty towards
the gang were similar, as was their interest in guns, They both wanted to settle the conflict in a
better way. These were some of their similarities.
8. If you were Tigo, would you stop Danny in initiating the last spin? Why or why not?
If I were Tigo, I would stop Danny from initiating the last spin because fate had given them a
chance to continue their lives better without someone getting hurt, and a chance to make their
gangs at peace and stop the game because it’s the tradition of both gangs.
9. Why does Tigo keep ‘upping the odds’ by putting more bullets in the gun?
For more intensity and to speed up the game, since none of them got the cartridge with the
bullet, and also the fact that it’s the purpose of their play, adding more bullets will be the
reason to make one of them die, as per their respective gangs' wishes to happen.
10. What is the moral of the story?
Try and try until you die. Joke! As a teenager, don’t make careless decisions just because others
wish it to happen. Know first the consequences before doing things that you think are wrong.
Consider adult opinions as part of your guidance so that you won’t lose your right path in
making good decisions.
