1. Philosophy is one of the importance components of a mission statement that a


company should have. Explain the philosophy of Top Glove. (10 marks)

As we know, philosophy is one of the importance components of a mission statement


that a company should have, same goes with also Top Glove company. Top Glove have their
own philosophy to become one of the best companies. Based on the case study of the Top
Glove, I can conclude that Top Glove are working to give the best for customer from word
Tan Sri Dr Lim Wee Chai, the executive chairman and founder of Top Glove Corporation
Bhd, believes constant innovation, listening to what customers want and immersive research
and development (R&D), coupled with long-term succession planning, are what will keep the
world’s largest rubber glove maker afloat..They always try to give best result to fulfil
customer need, want and satisfaction in long- term planning. Top Glove also try the best to
seek chance to increase the demand toward their product because they believes there is
plenty of room to expand the company in international market share

Secondly, Top Glove mantra was simple which is plans to sick to his well-tried, time
honored principle of producing consistently high-quality gloves at the lowest possible cost
.Top Glove’s Business Directions is to approach to produce consistently high quality gloves
with efficient low cost of producing consistently high quality gloves at the lowest possible
cost as can.Besides that, The company recognizes that there is a needed for continuous
learning and improvement in the operation to ensure employee stay quality minded, lean ,
efficient to contribute positively toward company. As for tha, the company will take care of
the welfare of their employees.

Lastly, Top Glove Chairman Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Lim Wee Chai had also talk about the issue of
succession. Although his son works in the company, but he considers all employees as
children of Top Glove.Tan Sri Dr Lim Wee Chai hold value that company practiced absolute
meritocracy, and everyone has the same chance to succeed. This will ensure Top Glove
remains on top for al long time to come because all of employee had given the same
equality between them , no discrimination .Consequently , he believe that the employee will
give the best toward the work to get the best position in the Top Glove .

2. With the support of the phrases from the article, explain four (4) components of
Top Glove’s mission. (10 marks)

Based on the article, one of components of Top Glove’ mission is to expand the
company’s international market share. Top Glove today has captured about 25% of the
global rubber glove market and serves 2,000 customers across 195 countries.They want to
grow especially among the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) countries. Dr
Lim Wee Chai believe that there is more room to enter in market share. To become the
highest wanted in the market share he also believe that Top Glove must considering about
customer wanted and doing research and development (R&D) and doing the long term
planning .

Secondly, the component of Top Glove mission is Dr Lim Wee Chai mantra for growth is
simple. He plans to sick to his tried and tested, time-honored principle of producing
constantly high-quality gloves at the lowest possible cost. Top Glove continues to produce
high quality gloves at an effective low cost in line with its time-tested business
direction.Besides that ,Dr Lim Wee Chai also said that they are also improving their
operations to ensure that everybody stay quality-minded, lean and efficient.

The third components is Top Glove was listed on the Singapore Exchange in June, its
second listing after Bursa Malaysia, with a view to improving its brand awareness and the
profile of the company on an international level Moreover, the executive chairman of Top
Glove Tan Sri Dr Lim Wei Chai mentioned the company second listing in Singapore
Exchange will give avenue for investors that prefer to deal there. He also stated this will add
value for investors and shareholders of company.

Lastly, Top Gloves recognises that his employees are important to its success and key
drivers for the future development. They are committed to equality of opportunity in
employment and career progression, where all individuals are considered on basis of their
relevant merits, skills and abilities. The Top Glove concept was to recognise every staff
member as a valued partner who plays an important role in sustainable growth and
profitability, towards the success of the centre.
