WASTE HIERARCHY:
A Foundation of Sustainable Solid Waste Management (SSWM)

PRINCIPLE OF SSWM:
•  Avoid, Segregate, Reuse, Recycle, Treat
•  Should be more waste to avoid than to be
landfilled
•  Highest hierarchy is the most honour
•  Highest hierarchy is no or the least impact
•  Highest hierarchy is the cheapest and
most effective
•  Recycle, WTE, or Landfill is not enough to
be a single solution, it should be done
simultaneously
