13 DESCRIPTION OF EQUIPMENT
The Trendmaster Galvanic Isolator (TMGI) is associated apparatus that provides isolated intrinsically
safe outputs for connection to suitably-certified transducers. The TMGI is housed in a flame retardant
urethane enclosure and is designed to be installed in a suitable enclosure located in a zone 2 or zone
22 hazardous area.
The hazardous area terminals (2, 3, 4 and 5) are intrinsically safe, refer to certificate number
Sira 02ATEX2215 for applicable safety parameters.
Variation 1 - This variation introduced the following changes:
i. To allow the increase in the value of fuse F4 on Board 1 from 100 mA to 200 mA.
ii. The introduction of minor circuit changes to Board 2.
iii. To recognise changes to the label drawing.
Variation 2 - This variation introduced the following change:
i. The applicants name and address was changed from Bently Nevada Corporation, 1617 Water
Street to that currently shown.
Variation 3 - This variation introduced the following changes:
i. Following appropriate re-assessment to demonstrate compliance with the requirements of the
EN 60079 series of standards, the documents previously listed in section 9, EN 50021:1999, was
replaced by those currently listed, the markings in section 12 were updated accordingly and the
conditions were amended to recognise the new standards.
ii. The marking was modified to clarify that these products contain intrinsically safe, associated
apparatus; the use of this marking relies on certificate number Sira 02ATEX2215 and it is applied
by the Applicant under his own responsibility.

15 SPECIAL CONDITIONS FOR SAFE USE

15.1 When installed in a zone 2 hazardous area, the TMGI shall be installed in an enclosure that ensures
compliance with the Category 3 enclosure requirements, taking into account a service temperature of
135°C, for explosive gas environments, as detailed in EN 60079-0 and EN 60079-15.
15.2 When installed in a zone 22 dust hazardous area, the TMGI shall be installed in an enclosure that
ensures compliance with the Category 3 enclosure requirements, taking into account a service
temperature of 135°C, for explosive dust environments, as detailed in EN 60079-0 and EN 60079-31.
15.3 If the TMGI is installed in a zone 2 hazardous area for gases or a zone 21/22 for dusts, it shall be
housed in an enclosure that is suitably-approved for the zone such that the following requirements are
met:
• Non-metallic enclosures must be capable of withstanding the thermal endurance requirements of
IEC 60079-0, prior to impact and IP54 testing.
• Any enclosure must be capable of withstanding an impact of 7 J (or 4 J if installed in an area of
low mechanical risk)
• The enclosure or location must provide an ingress protection of at least IP54.
• Non-metallic enclosures must be capable of meeting the requirements of IEC 60079-0 clause 7.3
regarding electrostatic hazards
• If exposed to sunlight, non-metallic enclosures must be capable of meeting the requirements of
IEC 60079-0 clause 26.10 regarding resistance to light.
• Enclosures containing light metals must be capable of meeting the requirements of EN 60079-0
Clause 8.1.
