INTRODUCTION

Food history is an interdisciplinary field that examines

the history and the cultural, economic, environmental,
and the cultural, economic, environmental,
and sociological impacts of food and human nutrition. It
is considered distinct from the more traditional field of
culinary history, which focuses on the origin and
recreation of specific recipes. Early human nutrition was
largely determined by the availability and palatability of
foods. Humans evolved as omnivorous hunter-gatherers,
though the diet of humans has varied significantly
depending on location and climate. The diet in the tropics
tended to depend more heavily on plant foods, while the
diet at higher latitudes tended more towards animal
products. Analyses of postcranial and cranial remains of
humans and animals from the Neolithic, along with
detailed bone-modification studies, have shown that
cannibalism also occurred among prehistoric humans.
Agriculture developed at different times in different
places, starting about 11,500 years ago, providing some
cultures with a more abundant supply of grains (such as
wheat, rice and maize) and potatoes; and originating
staples such as bread, pasta dough, and tortillas. The
domestication of animals provided some cultures with
milk and dairy products.
In 2020, archeological research discovered a frescoed
thermopolium (a fast-food counter) in an exceptional
state of preservation from 79 in Pompeii, including
2,000-year-old foods available in some of the deep terra
cotta jars

Over the past 50 years, food choices and eating habits

have changed drastically worldwide. These changes are
primarily the result of technological advancements and
mainstream media. Rapid globalization and urbanization
have resulted in the integration of the world into a single
global farm. Thus, this led to massive changes in our diets
and demand for nutrient consumption.
Nowadays, consumers worldwide prefer easy-to-prepare
food products that are rich in nutrients. Suppliers and brands
have expanded their area of expertise to cater to these
preferences.
Methodology
Survey was conducted on “EVOLVING
FOOD HABITS”. A questionnaire was prepared in Google
forms as a part of the survey. This questionnaire contains
12 Questions and it was responded by 13 people of my
relatives and friends and Data was Collected and
compared.

Results
The following are results obtained from the survey
conducted by the preferences of people belong to different
age group.

➢By the following chart we can see the main

cause of evolution of food habits in the
society

➢ The following pie chart shows the group of people

consumes which kind of food.
As per the response 41% of the respondence that they
never maintained regular interval of time between their
meals. Most of them consider breakfast is main meal
of the day.
Most of my neighbours were unaware of lifestyle
diseases and were unaware of the cause of disease is
the food habit.
Most of the respondence eat three meals a day. And
neighbours prefer to eat four meals a day.

➢ This is the result of neighbours who prefer sides

between their meals :-
Conclusion
From the observation made by me I can conclude that
people around my locality have significant knowledge
about the types of food they eat and also the ill effects of
consumption of unhealthy food. There are also
considerable number of responses which shows that
people are attracted towards the taste of junk food and
have adopted the consumption of junk food between their
meals. Children belonging to the age group between 5-15
are most attracted to the junk foods.

Moreover, adopting new healthier food habits may protect

us from lifestyle diseases, obesity etc. Eating healthy and
regular exercising also help us to maintain healthy
lifestyle. A healthy diet is indeed very important for good
health and nutrition.
