11. Volume of a solution changes with change in temperature, then, will the molality of the solution be
affected by temperature? Give reason for your answer.

12. Hydrogen gas is prepared in the laboratory by reacting dilute HCl with granulated zinc. Following
reaction takes place.
Zn + 2HCl → ZnCl2 + H2
13. What is the difference between molality and molarity? Write any two.
Calculate the mass percent of calcium, phosphorus and oxygen in calcium phosphate Ca 3(PO4)2.
14. In three moles of ethane (C2H6), calculate the following:
(i) Number of moles of carbon atoms
(ii) Number of hydrogen atoms
(iii) Number of molecules of ethane
15. Read the passage given below and answer the following questions:
In many cases, the substances in a mixture are not present in exactly the same amount as required
by the balanced chemical equation. In such situations, one reactant is in excess over the other. The
reactant which is present in lesser amount gets consumed after sometime and after that no further
reaction takes place even though the other reactant is present. Thus, the reactant which gets
completely consumed in a reaction is called limiting reactant. The concentration of the limiting
reactant limits the amount of products formed. The other reactants present in quantities greater
than those needed to react with the quantity of the limiting reagent present would be left
unreacted. It is also called excess reagent. Lithium oxide is used to remove water from air according
to the following reaction:
Li2O(s) + H2O(g) ⎯→ 2LiOH(s)
90 g of water is to be removed and 45 g of Li 2O is available.
(Atomic mass: Li – 7amu, O – 16amu, H – 1amu)
(i) Define limiting reactant.
(ii) From the above given reaction, which reactant is the limiting reactant?
(iii) Amount of formation of product in a chemical reaction depends on _____________.
(iv) How much amount of LiOH (in g) is produced?
(v) Which reactant is the excess reactant and how much excess reactant (in g) is left?
