Practice
It's your turn to try it:
1. Open Windows Explorer and create a folder at the root of your
hard drive called Logs.

IMPORTANT
If your hard drive is in the default location, your path to the folder
should be C:\Logs. The letter used for your hard drive may vary
(e.g., D:, X:, etc.).
2. When you have finished creating your new folder, close
Windows Explorer.
3. If you already created a bottling line application, continue
working with that application; otherwise restore the
CLT_9701_A1.APA file.

IMPORTANT
Before using this file, you must verify that the RSLinx Enterprise
communications setup has been updated.

4. Create a new data log that exhibits the following features:

• Type a description of: Bottling line data
• Allow up to 5,000 data points
• Data log saved to the Logs folder you created in Step 1
• Periodic data logging every 2 seconds
• The following tags are included in the data log:
- system\Second
- Bottle_Message
- Bottle_Count

IMPORTANT
The Bottle_Message and Bottle_Count tags are located in your
Filling program.

5. Save the data log as Bottles.

6. Activate the Bottles data log so that it begins recording data
when your application starts up.
7. Change the initial graphic to Login in the Startup editor.
8. Open the Trend graphic display.
9. Copy the trend object, Trend Controls buttons, and Y Scale
buttons from the Trends library and paste them into your
graphic display.
10. Resize the objects if desired to better fit the Trend graphic
display.
11. Change the background color of the trend object to black and
change the color of the grid lines to white.

12. Delete any existing tags associated with the trend when it was
imported from the library.
13. Assign the Bottle_Count tag to Pen 1, the Bottle_Message tag
to Pen 3, and the system/Second tag to Pen 5.
14. Configure the pens to exhibit the following properties:
• The width of each pen is set to 3.
• The Link Data feature is enabled for the system/Second tag.
• The maximum values for the remaining tags are set to 10.
• The minimum values for the remaining tags are set to 0.
• A unique marker is enabled for each pen.
15. Assign the Bottles data log to the trend.
16. Buffer 100 points of data for each pen.
17. Increase the time span for the horizontal axis to 30 seconds.
18. Modify the trend so that data is refreshed every second.
19. Save and close the Trend graphic display.
20. Test the application by using FactoryTalk View Studio software
or the PanelView Plus 7 terminal.
21. Log in to your application using the following settings:
• User ID: LAURA
• Password: maint
22. From the Main Menu, navigate to the Maintenance graphic
display.
23. Verify that the Motor Override Control button is turned off.
24. Return to the Main Menu and navigate to the Trend display.
25. View the trend you have created. How is the trend behaving?

26. Return to the Main Menu and then navigate to the Conveyor
graphic display.
27. Set the number of bottles being filled to five and start the
conveyor motor.
28. Using the button on the Conveyor graphic display, immediately
go to the Trend graphic display.
IMPORTANT
Be sure to exit the Conveyor graphic display while the bottles are
still filling.
