1. What is the difference between formative and summative
assessment? As a future Kindergarten teacher, why is there a need for you to perform a formative and summative assessment?
-Two methods of assessing a student's progress are summative and
formative assessments.Continual feedback is provided to teachers and instructors so they may improve their instruction and to students so they can improve their learning through the use of formative assessment, which is used to monitor student development.Summative evaluation, however, compares student learning to a benchmark or standard to determine the extent of students' learning at the end of a unit of instruction.
I utilized these two techniques because they help students understand
concepts better and promote personal responsibility as a future kindergarten teacher. As opposed to formative assessment, summative assessment refers to the "examination of learning," or more typically, what we would refer to as a test or evaluation.
2 2. Why is the entry age of Kindergarten learners is 5 years old? What is DepEd’s basis for this regulation?
-This is because, according to the Department of Education
(DepEd), Kindergarten serves as a transitional year from informal to formal literacy (Grades 1–12), and because age five (5) falls within the crucial window of time when positive experiences must be fostered in order to determine readiness for school.
3. In the Kindergarten class blocks of time under the recess, it is
observable that the following competencies are linked: Personal Autonomy or self-help skills and Fine motor skills. Give some overt behavior that you may observe while supervising the recess of health break of these young learners
-Based on my observations, managing time blocks in a
kindergarten class allowed teachers to guide the class systematically from the moment students arrived until dismissal time. Learning is more successful when it is enjoyable and fun.
