Activity/Task: Individual Reflective Journal

In this lesson which is all about planning a written test, everyone who thinks doing this
is easy, let us know. For us to be able to enhance our skills in planning to have a good written
test, we need to review our knowledge on lesson plan development and etc. For us as a teacher, if
we able to identify the intended learning outcomes (knowledge, skills, attitudes and values of
every student that should be developed) we can easily create a well-planned written test. Based
on the reporter of this lesson, aside from creating a written test, teacher is the one who give
students opportunities to be aware of what they need to do to be successful not only on their
written test but also in their courses. Before all of this happen which is creating a written test,
first we need to create one thing that we called Table of Specification (TOS) or sometimes called
a test blueprint, it is a tool used by the teacher to design a test. The table of specification
involves; number of items, placement, and weight of the test items. Generally, this TOS is
prepared before a test is created. In creating this, it has a general step (1) Determine the
objectives of the test (2) Determine the coverage of the test (3) Calculate the weight for each
topic (4) Determine the number of items for the whole test (5) Determine the number of the
items per topic. Aside from all of this, according to the reporter the TOS has a different format,
first is the One –Way TOS, it works around the objectives without considering the different
levels of cognitive behavior. Second, Two-Way TOS, it reflects not only the content, time spent,
and number of items but also the level of cognitive behavior. Last is the Three-Way TOS it
reflects the features of one-way and two-way TOS. So the POV of this lesson is

of Test Result (Different Methods in Scoring Test or Performance Task).

Activity/Task: Individual Reflective Journal

In this lesson, which is Grading and Reporting of Test Result I will focus only on the
different methods in scoring test or performance task. We as a teacher when we give a grade on
one test or performance, we can use different methods like first is the Number Right Scoring
(NR). This method is the most common that is used of many teachers in giving a score, because
in this method it entails assigning positive values only to correct answer while giving a score
zero to incorrect answer. The one concerned in this methods are, the student may get the correct
answer by guessing thus affecting the test reliability and validity. Next is the Negative Marking
(NM), in this method, it entails assigning positive values to correct answers while punishing the
learner from incorrect responses. This method is unfamiliar for me because it is not usually used
by teachers in giving a score, for example in this method is when a teacher creates a 10 items
quiz, and in that items number 2, 5 and 9 is the wrong answer. The learner who gives the correct
answers in all items aside from items number 2, 5 and 9 will be given a score which is 1 points,
those who left the items unanswered will be given zero point and those who answered the items
the items that is wrong will get a negative score, that is the Negative Marking. Third is the Partial
Credit Scoring Methods. In this methods it determines a learner’s degree of level of knowledge
which respect to each response option given. It acknowledges that while the student cannot
always recognize the correct response, they can discern that some response option is clearly
incorrect, and that is the Partial Credit Scoring Method. Last is the Multiple Answers Scoring
Method. So in this method, it allows the student to have a multiple answer for each items.
However, it is difficult to solve, has lower discrimination power and takes more time to answer.

Course/Subject: PEC5 - Assessment in Learning 1 Topic: Lesson 3 Different

Classification of Assessment

Activity/Task: Individual Reflective Journal

According to the reporter of this lesson, assessment has different classifications.

Assessment are classified according to purpose (Educational, Psychological), form (Paper-and-
Pencil, Performance- based), interpretation of learning (Norm-referenced, Criterion-referenced),
function (Teacher-made, Standardized), ability (Speed, Power), and kind of learning
(Achievement, Aptitude). This educational assessment is used in school setting for the purpose
of knowing the knowledge of the learners and grading their performance. This kind of
assessment in educational settings comes in the form of formative assessment, so what is
formative assessment? Formative assessment is gathering information about student learning or
knowledge in the beginning, during and after the instructions. The purpose of this is to track and
monitor the students learning and their progress toward the learning target. So as a teacher it is
better to used formative assessment because it provides information not only on the students but
also on the teacher on how they can improve their teaching and learning. So the information
collected on students learning allows teacher to make adjustment to their instructional process
and strategies to facilitate learning. Through performance report, and teacher feedback, this
formative assessment can also inform students about their strength and weaknesses to enable
them to take steps to learn better and improve their performance as the class progresses.

Course/Subject: PEC5 - Assessment in Learning 1 Topic: Lesson 1 Basic Concepts and

Principles in Assessing

Activity/Task: Individual Reflective Journal

According to the reporter of this lesson, it is all about Assessment in learning which
means “to sit beside another.” It is process of gathering quantitative and/or qualitative data for
the purpose of making decisions. Aside from that, assessment has four different types, first is the
Formative Assessment. Formative assessment refers to activities that gibes information not only
on the students but also in the teachers. The information that the students collected give the
teachers adjustment on his/her teaching strategies, this is also give information on the students
about their strength and weakness to improve their performance.
