NOTES

Races of Gaia
Mankind- most physically powerful, battle oriented, with the largest population. Fairly fast witted with well-
developed brains, capable of even perceiving the Sozar on its own. They were also the only ones who
rejected immortality and unlimited powers as humans, and pleased with their desire for free will, Fate
granted them two boons.
First was that their will could not be overridden by any force. No outward forces could take complete
control of a man. They were also granted the power to access and use the power of Void, a supernatural
dimension that could be used as a power source.
Elves- The ones who are resistant to the effects of aging, and each of them can manage to control one of the
five weaker elements. Originally each elf had been able to control all the five weaker elements. But the
power became diluted during the ages. They can also grant blessings and our often-peace-loving folk who
are the least physically proficient of the three main races. The clan of Gondor is the only warrior clan among
the elves. The rest four are more oriented towards nature and learning.
Before the Time of Kings all elves lived alone or with their family in small scattered settlements all over the
world. After the Charter of Kings was signed, they handed over any claims as rulers, and were given huge
fertile pieces of land in return, which were then used to build palaces. Then the elves organised themselves
into an orderly structure, which required either an elf to become a roamer* or to join a clan. The head of
each clan was called a Master and each of them owned the land and the income generated by their clan,
though a small part had to be sent to the High Masters.
The High Masters are the elves who are descendants of the Elven kings of the old. They are masters of
whatever element they can access, and are often referred to by the kings of men for kingly advice.

Excerpt- Volume 1, The description of Rivendell the Elf.

If the image that comes to your mind is of a pointy eared humanoid, perish the thought. All the elves
that I knew about were fair and tall, and usually slender. With light hair and bright eyes, Elves managed to
charm men with even the most suspicious natures, their wit agile and their body untouched by age. The
older an elf grew the wiser they became, or so goes the saying. Though there were few elves on the realm,
they were never introverted, preferring to make regular appearances at courts of rulers.

Dwarfs- Often referred as the Race of Smiths, they were gifted by fate, to be better in the use of Runes* than
anyone else on the realm. They are also unmatched in the art of crafting something with metal, popularly
called metallurgy.
The Dwarfs had a similar administration setup like that of the elves, Before the Time Of Kings came along.
The dwarfs were asked to take up a land of their choice and they chose the southern masses, often living in
underground forges and homes, mining and smithing. They were the most all of the three races and were
often underestimated because of their lack of interest in war, as dwarfs turn out to be excellent fighters, and
very helpful to have in the battlefield.

Excerpt- Volume 1, the description of Gillan the Dwarf.

Gillan had grown a scraggly beard since the last time I had met him. He was over a metre tall, a
common height for a young boy. And an adult dwarf. His features were blunt, his face rugged, with hair
filled with soot from the forge.
