of country’s constitution. India is a parliamentary democratic Secular republic. The constitution defines the organisational powers and limitations of both central and state government. Prime Minister Prime minister is chosen by the political party. Prime minister is in charge of selecting the council of ministers which help the prime minister exercise his powers. Narendra Modi (Prime Minister of India) President President (head of state) is a nominal executive and oversees ceremonial functions. The President signs all the bills but can not reject them. Thus it is evidently clear that Prime Minister exercises major power in India.
Ram Nath Kovind (President of India) Vice President Vice President is the chairman of the council of states and has a 5 year term. (Vice President of India) Council of Ministers Union Council of Minister excercises executive authority in the Republic Of India. It consists of Cabinet Ministers, Minister of State. The council is led by Prime Minister of India. A smaller executive body called Union Cabinet is the Supreme decision making body in India. Rajya Sabha It is the upper house of the parliament is a elected by the state paliaments. It has maximum membership of 245, of which 233 are elected by the legislature of the states and union territories using single transferable votes through Open Ballot while the President can appoint 12 members. It is for 6 years of terms. Lok Sabha Lok Sabha constitutionally the House Of the People is the lower house of India’s Parliament. Member of Lok Sabha are elected for a term of 5 years or until the body is dissolved the President on the advice of the council of ministers. There are 543 members out of which 2 are elected by the President. Supreme Court It is the supreme judicial body of India and the highest court of the Republic of India under the constitution. It is the most senior constitutional court, and has the power of the judicial review. The Chief Justice of India is the head and the chief judge of the Supreme Court, which consists of a maximum of 34 judges and has extensive powers in the form of original, appellate and advisory jurisdiction.
