THINGS TO NOTE
We fantasize about the day we will crack XYZ examination, get a five-six-digit
salary, travel to this beautiful place, step into this new spacious house. The focus
is on the success, not the struggle. And it’s understandable — success is
glamorous, memorable, and marketable, while the struggle is drab, disagreeable,
and unattractive for the general public.
Yet, it’s making the effort, struggling, and sticking to your resolutions that shapes
you as a person. Success is a reward for having given it your best, but it’s not
always within your control whether and when you get to enjoy it. Whenever you
find yourself discouraged by your lack of success, remind yourself that the process
alone is your reward. It’s in your hands whether you allow yourself to see the
rewards the struggle generates or ignore them, mindlessly pursing the end result
as the sole indicator of success.
I failed numerous times in life. I could have despaired that I had lost so much time
and effort and money, but I hadn’t really failed. I had been true to my values of
pursuing the life I wanted. I kept going, despite the obstacles I constantly
encountered along the way.
Eventually my efforts paid off, but even if it had taken longer to get the results —
the struggle would still have been worth it for the immense changes I underwent
on the journey to pursue my dreams.

(d) 112 hours
(e) None of these

Solutions:

(1) Let initial quantity of milk and water be 6x and 5x litres.

(6x – 540)/(5x – 350) = 9/10

x = 150

Initial quantity of mixture = 11 * 150 = 1650 litres

(2) Let total work be 252 units.

A’s one-day work = 6 units

B’s one-day work = 4 units

C’s one-day work = 3 units

Work done by C in 4 days = 3*4 = 12 units

Remaining work = 240 units

Required number of days = 240/10 = 24 days
(3) 96/(B – 2) + 80/(B + 2) = 10

B = 18 km/hr.

(4) Deepak’s income = Rs 6000

Therefore, Ranjeet’s income = Rs 9600

Ranjeet’s expenditure = Rs 7000

Ranjeet’s saving = Rs 2600

(5) 1st year interest = Rs 1200

2nd year interest = Rs 192

PAGE 27
CHECKLIST FOR BANK EXAMS 2022 BY AASHISH ARORA
Rate of interest = 192/1200 * 100% = 16%
P *16/100 = 1200

P = 7500

(6) Let total monthly income be 100 units.

Income on study = 30 units

Income on rent = 28 units

Savings = 42 units

42 units – Rs 3192

28 units – Rs 2128
(7) Applying alligation rule, we get required average as 84.

(8) Overall SP = Rs 56 per kg.

Overall CP = 56*7/8 = Rs 49 per kg.

After applying alligation rule, we get the ratio of P and Q = 1 : 9

(9) Required SP = 1530 * 4/3 * 7/10 = Rs 1428

(10) (x +1)/(3x – 1) = 7/17
x=6

(11) Let total work be 48 units.

One-day work of P = 3 units

One-day work of Q = 2 units

Required time = 48/5 = 9.6 days

(12) Sum lent at 20% SI = Rs 2400

SI for 5 years = Rs 2400

Sum lent at 16.66% SI = Rs 9600

PAGE 28
CHECKLIST FOR BANK EXAMS 2022 BY AASHISH ARORA
SI for 5 years = Rs 9600 * 1/6 * 5 = Rs 8000
Required interest = Rs 10400

(13) Ratio of profits of Aman, Rishi and Manish = 6 : 5 : 2

6 units – Rs 1200

2 units – Rs 400
(14) Initial quantity of milk = 609 litres

Initial quantity of water = 174 litres

Final quantity of milk = 720 litres

Final quantity of water = 300 litres

Required ratio = 12 : 5

(15) Upstream speed = 10 km/hr

Downstream speed = 14 km/hr

Ratio of water to boat = 4/2 : 24/2 = 1 : 6

(16) By using options, we get required CP = Rs 1200

(17) (x + 1)/3x – (x – 1)/3x = 2/15
x=5

(18) Increase in average = 8/32 = 0.25

New average = 40.25

(19) Let initial income = Rs 100

Savings = Rs 30

Expenditure = Rs 70
New income = Rs 180

Savings = Rs 30
PAGE 29
CHECKLIST FOR BANK EXAMS 2022 BY AASHISH ARORA
New expenditure = Rs 150
Increase in expenditure = 80/70 * 100 = 114.28%

(20) Let total quantity of tank = 120 units

Quantity of tank filled by inlet pipe in 1 hour = 4 units

Quantity of tank emptied by outlet pipe in 1 hour = 3 units

Overall quantity filled in 1 hour = 1 units

Time taken to fill 80% tank (96 units) = 96/1 = 96 hours
