Design of Distributed Control System of Power Supply of the Telecommunication

China aguichen@sdu,edu.cn Absbact-This paper presents a design of distributed control system @CS) of power supply of the telecommunication (PST), including the hardware structure and the design of software. The industrial computer is used as the supervisor computer to supervise and coordinate every supervising module..The supervising module is made up of MSClZlO, a microcontroller made in Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI), which performs the measurement and control of the power supply system and rectifier system. It also communicates with the supervisor computer. The reliable communication between computer and many microcontrollers has been realized. The system can N n for a long time without on duty.

I. INTRODUCTION .Telecommunication has taken a very important role in the development of the national economy and onr daily life. Telecommunication eqnipments are the basic part of the telecommunication system. The reliability of the telecommunication equipments will directly influence the quality of the communication. The most important eqnipments of the telecommunication system are the programmable branch exchange (PBX) and the

power supply of the telecommunication (PST). The reliability of the PST is very important, and can not be neglected. The PST must be supervised to assume the quality or performance of the telecommunication system. The position of the PST is separate. so the distributed control system is adopted. A design of the distributed control system is presented in this paper. All the main parameters of the PST can be inspected measured and controlled. The reliable communication between computer and many microcontrollers MCS 1210 has been realized. The system can run for a long time without on duty.
OF 11. THE STRUCTURE THE SYSTEM In order to ensure the PST to run reliably, all parts of the PST must be supervised and controlled by the industrial computer. The information of every part is collected and analyzed by the computer, and the computer makes the control strategy according the information. So the distributed control system is realized. The structllre of the system is shown in Fig.1.

Where, the supervisor and management center is the center of whole PSTs management and schedule. Its information is from the supervisor computer of the PST. The supervisor and management center contacts with the supervisor computer through database.

The supervisor computer communicates with the AC power supply supervisor module, DC power supply supervisor module and every rectifier ark supefvisor module through RS485 communication bus. Its functions include the followiog items,

Supervises and manages the operation of the PST. Sets and modifies the operation parameters. Manages the charge and discharge of the battery. Records and analyzes all the operation data. Records when and where the faults of the PST take place correctly. So the manager of the PST can take the effective measure to maintain, and the PST can operate safely, stably, reliably for a long time.

The DC power supply supervisor module takes charge of monitoring the charge and discharge current of the storage battery, the whole current of loads, the ON or OFF status of the broker connected to the battery, the status of fuse, whether the battery power is excessive pressure or owe pressure, whether the current of the charge is too high, and so on. The rectifier ark supervisor module has two functions. One is receiving the parameters transmitted from the supervisor computer, and control the electric intelligent module according to these setting up parameters, such as, adjusting the output voltages of the elechic intelligent module, turning on or off the intelligent module, charging the storage battery evenly and floatingly, and so on. The other is measuring the operating parameters of the electric intelligent module and transmitting these parameters to the supervisor computer. These parameters include the output voltages of the intelligent module, currents and the working temperature, whether the pressure of the power net is too high or too low, lack of phases, and so on. All the rectifier arks have the same structure, but different address. The AC power supply supervisor module, the DC power supply supervisor module and all the rectifier ark modules arc the basic of the PST control. The microcontroller MSClZlO is used as the main control chip of every supervisor module, which is made in Texas Instruments Incorporated (Ti). The structure of MSC1210 is shown in Fig.2.

Remote measurement, remote communication, remote control and remote regulation of the PST can he realized through the system. This is the base of the system running for a long time without on duty. The AC power supply supervisor module supervises the following items, Over high voltage detection of the power net. Over low voltage detection of the power net.

Based on this condition, MSC12lO is uSed as the main control chip in every supervisor module. The stmcture of the AC power supply supervisor module is shown in Fig. 3. Other supervisor modules have the similar shuctnre.

OF III. THESOFTWAREDESIGN DCS OF PST There are thee parts in the s o h a r e system of the DCS of PST. They are the management system running on the supervisor and management center computer, the polling program running on the host supervisor computer of PST and the supervisor program running on every supervisor module. The staNs information the of PST inquiry function is realized by the management system running on the supervisor and management center computer. The information comes from the, polling program. The polling program ninning on the host supervisor computer ofthe PST carries out the setting up of the running parameters of every supervisor module, measuring the actual operating parameters, sending the measurement value to the supervisor and management center. through the network: The information can be queried on any computer connected in the network. These two parts of the software system are both written using Delphi. BDE (Borland Database Engine) is used as the database engine. BDE is considered as the most excellent database engine. The MSC1210 is used as the main control chip in every supervisor module. The supervisor program is written using assembler language to improve the efficiency.

In order to illustrate the working process of the system, the flow chart of the polling program running in the host supervisor computer of PST and the flow chart of main program of the rectifier ark supervisor module will he taken as examples to he described.
The flow chart of the polling propam running on the host supervisor computer is shown in figure 4.

The main function of the program is the polling the information of every supervisory module, i.e. to get data tkom every supervisor module and send control commands to them. The interval of the polling time is 30s. The tasks fmished in this period include sending the supervisor module's address, receiving data of the supervisor module, recording the running information into the database. The communication function is realized by using the Windows MI functions. The Microsoft SQL Server is used as the working database. The parameters of the rectifier ark module can he set and controlled by the program, including the control of the output voltage, the control of turning on or off, the control of the even charge or float charge of the battery, the timing control of switch between even charge or float charge of the battery, and so on. .The float chart of the main program of the rectifier ark supervisor module is shown in Fig. 5. The working process of the system is as .following. After the power supply is on, the system will initialize itself fintly, including the settings of the stack, the iutermpt mode, the timer and so on. Thereinafter the system judges if the time for event charge is end. If it is true, the system will send out the float charge command, and the system will come into the float charge mode. If there is any command, the system will receive and execute the command. The command may be turning on or off the system, starting the even charge, adjusting the output voltage, and so on. Then the operating parameten of the module will be read and processed. At last the data gathered and the alarm message will be display.

l . CONCLUSION V
After the DCS of the PST is used, the quality of the runding of the PST is improved, and the maintenance task is reduced. The system can run for a long time without on duty. Great economic and social benefits have been brought through the successful implement of the project. The project has great spread value.
