What is Procedure
Text?
A Piece of text that gives us instructions for
doing something through sequence of
action or steps

melalui aksi/langkah langkah
 What is Procedure
Text for?
● To show how something is done through sequence of
steps which enable the reader to achieve the goal
● To tell the reader how to do something through a
sequence of actions or steps

● Untuk menunjukkan bagaimana sesuatu dilakukan

melalui urutan langkah-langkah yang memungkinkan
pembaca untuk mencapai tujuan
● Untuk memberitahu pembaca bagaimana melakukan
sesuatu menggunakan urutan tindakan atau langkah
 Structure of
Procedure Text
● Goal (or title)
Goal is the title of the text
● Materials (not required for all procedural texts)
Materials is the tool or anything which needed in the process
of the steps
● Steps (the actions that must be taken)
Steps is ways, methods, or what you should do

● Tujuan (atau judul)

Tujuan adalah judul dari procedure text
● Bahan (tidak diperlukan untuk semua procedure text)
Bahan/alat yang diperlukan dalam proses
● Langkah Langkah (Tindakan yang harus dilakukan)
Cara atau metode yang harus dilakukan

 Temporal Conjunction
Tells us about the time. When will something happen?
 Action Verb
Action Verb = Kata kerja yang berperan sebagai kata
perintah

Example:
Let's make mushroom salad. You'll need 0,15 kg white
mushroom very fresh, 1 tablespoon lemon juice, pepper,
salt, a few chives or parsley, and 4 tablespoons olive oil.
Now, Are you ready to make it? Let's start.

First, Wash mushrooms and pat dry. Cut off most of

stalk. Slice the rest thinly and put in salad bowl. Mix oil
with lemon juice, salt and pepper,
and beat well. Pour about 2/3 of this dressing over
mushroom, stir gently and put aside for an hour. Add rest
of dressing and put aside again until most of dressing is
absorbed about 1/2 hour. Meanwhile, chop chives or
parsley. Sprinkle this over salad and serve.
 Imperative Sentence

Imperative sentence = kalimat yang memberikan pembaca sebuah

instruksi, menanyakan permintaan, atau memerintahkan sesuatu

Example!
Step:
1. Cook the crab in a boiling water
2. The crab will change its color to red. That indicates the crab is
cooked. Once it turned red, take the crab out of the water and set
aside.
 Important Notes

A good Procedure text ..

● Has numbered steps that tell what to do
● Has steps that clearly describe one part of the process
● Has steps that may include a drawing or diagram

● Keep your instruction short, simple, and to the point

● Procedure Text are always written in Present Tense
