Manuel Roxas Elpidio Quirino
• The Liberal Party was founded by Manuel Roxas, the first president of the
Third Philippine Republic, on January 19, 1946. Roxas created it from what
had previously been the "Liberal Wing" of the Nacionalista Party.
• The Liberal Party supports the concepts of "freedom, justice, and solidarity
(bayanihan)," as expressed in the party's values charter. Since the party was
created in 1946, this may be seen as being theoretically accurate, but it
became more real due to the party's steadfast political opposition under the
Marcos dictatorship.
• An effort to connect into a large volunteer base, the party has made party
membership open to the general public and to major groups of society since
2017. The party claims that this supposedly strives to promote "the promise
of becoming a true people's party."
