On 9th January 2015, the society organised its annual Inter-College o petitio o the the e: Lo e,
Pea e a d Ha o . The e e t had t o o petitio s, SPIN-A-YARN (on the spot creative writing
competition) and MIND-TALK (wherein students read their writings).
The event became special in context of the Golden-Jubilee year of the college and was followed by a
Delhi poets meet. The Chief Guest was Prof. Shiva Prakash, (School of Arts and Aesthetics, Jawaharlal
University). Eminent poets across Delhi like Dr. Rumki Basu, Mr. Samir Kakkar and Ms. Smita Sehgal also
read-out their poems based on the theme. Expressions represented KNC along with Luminoso and
Green Beans at Delhi University Fest, Antardhwani from 20-22ndFebruary, 2015.
On 9th April 2015, the college held a closing ceremony for the academic session (2014-2015), winners of
intra-society/inter-college contests held throughout the year were given away prizes by Dr. Minoti
Chaterjee (the Principal, then). Society-members also recited their poems in the ceremony. On 30th July
2015, the society held an orientation programme for the new members –who read out their pieces. A
topic for Expressions, the wall-paper was chosen – Wanderlust. Writers Block, an online intra-society,
monthly-writing contest was also announced.

The new semester began with a short online reflective exercise, popular as #15lessonsforlife, summing
up the insights the students members gained over the year gone by – 2015.This was followed up with a
fresh round of articles on certain pre-decided topics as part of the on-goi g O li e Co test, W ite s
Block in the months of January and February.
Expressions members, through association with Poetry across Cultures,attended a literary forum of
readings by prolific authors of Indian regional languages namely, Asamese, Hindi, Oriya, and English at
Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi ON 11thJanuary 2016. The English readings were by the Principal of College,
Dr. Rita Malhotra.
The burning issue of Palestine was addressed through an interactive session by Expressions, in
collaboration with the Department of Political Science, Kamala Nehru College, on 11th March, 2016.

accounts, poems and selections by the eminent Palestinian writers, Laila El-Haddad and Tamim Al-
Barghouti. Laila El-Haddad is an award-winning Palestinian writer and public speaker from Gaza City. She
is the author of Gaza Mama: Politics and Parenting in Palestine, co-author of the critically acclaimed The
Gaza Kitchen: A Palestinian Culinary Journey, and co-editor of Gaza Unsilenced. Tamim Al-Barghouti is a
Palestinian poet, columnist and political scientist. He published his first poem at the age of eighteen. In
1999, he wrote his first poetry collection, Mijana, after he visited Palestine for the first time. Currently,
he is Consultant to the United Nations Economic and Social Committee for West Asia. The talk was
followed by a poetry reading session by students of Expressions comprising poems from Palestinian
poets as well as self-composed poems on conflicts.
Expression signed off the eventful session with a Closing Ceremony on 1st April, 2016, where Faculty
Members read out their own compositions alongside students, in addition to the Prize Distribution.
