WHAT IS MEDIUM IN ART?
In art, a medium is a material that artists use to create their art. A piece of art is
made from its medium, and through this, the artist expresses and convey their feelings
and ideas with passion.
A piece of art can be made from a single medium or multiple mediums. In art, the
term medium refers to the paint or other liquid that you use to create your painting. It can
be anything from watercolor to oils to pastels. If you want to paint portraits, you will need
to buy brushes, paints, canvases, and other mediums that will allow you to put your
subject in the painting.
Examples of Mediums:
And more…
MUSICAL ARTS include music, dance that is accompanied by music, and poetry
(those have perceptible rhythm and can be sung or danced to).
PRACTICAL ARTS has immediate use for everyday and business life such as
design, architecture, and furniture.
ENVIRONMENTAL ARTS occupy space and change in its meaning and function
depending on their categories including architecture, sculpture, and site-specific
works like installation and public art.
NARRATIVE refers to art form based on stories. Includes drama, novel fiction,
nonfiction, music and dance.
Medium influences the way we view art because something normal is turned into
something beautiful to our eyes. The fact that the medium used seems so simple is
what makes us value the work of art done. A medium is an important tool that makes
us think deeply about the artwork and why something so simple is so significant. Thus,
all artwork and art forms can be integrated and result in Combined Arts.
